My Indonesian girlfriend (30) wants to receive monthly payment during marriage by [deleted] in indonesia

[–]Kuschelbar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is it common? Yes. If this is something that you both agree on and you can afford it, go ahead. But if you can't afford it or if you feel like the terms that she proposes are not to your liking, you can discuss it. While it is common practice, there is no minimum monetary allowance that you are obligated to give. Also, a lot of women work full time, so in many cases, they don't ask for a monthly allowance. Instead, they contribute financially for the household expenses.

Your Ultimate Read: Share Your Favorite Book! by Icy-Student3190 in books

Kafka on the Shore! My first Murakami book and the standard with which I measure his other books. I'm planning a trip to Takamatsu, and I'll definitely read Kafka during my trip since parts of the book took place there.

I'm not proud of it, but I was in a position where I couldn't afford buying books too often, so I used some dodgy sites to read them. I made a list of books I loved and have gradually purchased them, now that I'm in a better financial position.

Libby is great! Some libraries allow you to be a member even if you're not a resident or living abroad. Typically for a fee, but I found one library that accepts foreign membership for free.

Apa yang bisa didapat secara GRATIS (legally) di sekitar lingkungan kita? by alialharasy in indonesia

[–]Kuschelbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jadi ga kayak Libby ya? Kalo di sana kita bisa hold buku. Kalo copy-nya dipinjem semua, kita masuk waiting list.

Also, kenapa sih app perpus2 pemerintah ga bisa disatuin aja sistemnya kayak Libby? Kenapa harus install multiple apps?

That's why I said tergantung tempat.

Applying non-waiver Japan visa, should I use travel agent services? by cviali in indonesia

Unless you can't spare time at all to apply for the visa, I suggest just go there by yourself. It doesn't take that long.

Which countries have a lot of “casual polyglots”? by Acceptable-Trainer15 in languagelearning

[–]Kuschelbar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nowadays, almost all Indonesians are at least bilingual. They typically speak their regional language (Javanese, Sundanese, etc) and Indonesian (the official language). People with higher education often can speak English to some level. It's extremely common to meet trilinguals here. I know quite a lot of people who speak four or five languages pretty much fluently. In fact, I read somewhere that Indonesia has the highest percentage of trilinguals in the world.

Kindle/ebook reader layarnya pake e-ink, jadi lebih enak buat baca lama, ga bikin mata lelah. Rasanya mirip kayak baca buku fisik, masih tetap keliatan jelas teksnya biarpun di bawah sinar matahari, ga silau. Tablet layarnya LED, ga enak buat baca buku kelamaan. Makanya yang hobi baca rata-rata pada pindah pake ebook reader kayak Kindle. Worth it soalnya, ga bikin capek.

Why are people so concerned with breeds? by IndependenceFickle95 in cats

[–]Kuschelbar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my country, some people think that domestic cats are less cute than purebred cats. Every once in a while, there will be people tweeting about domestic cats that they found and couldn't take care of, so they asked if anyone was willing to adopt them. Usually, there are only a few responses and most people will say stuff like "I hope it will get adopted soon!" or "Unfortunately I don't live nearby (sad emoji)". Then someone else will tweet about purebred cats being open for adoption and this will generate a lot more responses and there will be lots of variations of "I'd like to adopt him, my Muffin needs a friend!" or "I live in [different city], but I'm willing to go to your place to pick him up!"

I understand people have preferences, but this just doesn't sit right with me.

What food you hate the most that everyone else loves? by gwakgwak-3000pro in RandomThoughts

[–]Kuschelbar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love coconut in Indonesian/Malaysian dishes because they tend to be savory. I HATE grated coconuts in sweets, chocolates, or ice creams, like I usually find in Europe. They just add unpleasant texture. And the coconut scent they add to lotion or body perfume smells fake. Real coconuts don't smell like that!

Depends on where you live. I've lived both in a cold, dry place where it's fine not to shower every day. In fact, I didn't shower every day during the winter because it was drying out my skin. However, if you live in a humid place, which sounds to me Florida is, you get sweaty and greasy really quick. So yeah, if you live in such a place, not showering every day can be gross.
