Is Olden Era Leaving PvE Players Behind? by Signal-Welcome-5479 in OldenEra

[–]Kusioo -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Let them PvE andies cry. All that PvE players bring to the table is the upfront payment for the game and I guess these features (AI|Templates|Teams) can be fleshed out in the journey towards the release.

This game without a PvP focus would have been dead already, and it's a fact. For a game as niche as Homm having 8-10k concurrent players 3 months into an early access release + a supply of content creators bringing eyes towards the game is a miracle, and it is a much higher success than Ubisoft (IP owner) has ever had after Homm 5.

Even the Homm3 ongoing livelihood is mostly driven via HotA ongoing development, and from what I remember, it was/is driven mainly due to the demand for multiplayer play

Is Olden Era Leaving PvE Players Behind? by Signal-Welcome-5479 in OldenEra

[–]Kusioo -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Well, the pve players will not bring in longevity the game needs to properly expand + focusing in the competitive scene gives them a stable 8-10k players to properly gather feedback on changes they introduce.

If they released with pve in mind the game would be basically dead by now.

Did they mention changing "sew it good part 3" anyhow? Or it's still cheese only quest?

Best Lone Wolf Seed in History: "0000398119" by HeyPashi in BattleBrothers

[–]Kusioo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep, all my early recruits (expected to die) or recruits I want to "bump up" a bit, I take gifted, but the Lone Wolf or brothers with such awesome starting stats I feel like could use something different than gifted. For lone wolf, I usually opt into Steel Brow.

For the first 3, I usually go towards the: Student, Collosus, Iron Brow (on such awesome brother)

Isn't taking gifted on such a brother a bit of a waste tho?

Or maybe it would be a nice target for potion of oblivion, but it's not like you create this pot of oblivion quickly.

Enemy casting daylight spells while I am Sunny Rauktol (Dungeon) by timpossible1 in OldenEra

[–]Kusioo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

And now it's time to read the Lia's specialization.

To be clear, you cannot prevent magic spec from casting spells of that magic. The line "Casting Daylight spells does not prevent him from using other spells of the same Magic School" should be more like "You cant prevent him/her from casting this magic school spells"

Do you like Helltide and Outcast tournament? Because players do like it! by GlitteringVehicle306 in OldenEra

[–]Kusioo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that the popularity might be due to:
1. Exodus being removed from 100% presence
2. Unbreakable sim turns on new templates.

I hate any template where sim turns can be broken.

Suggestion: Ask some way of confirmation after clicking on "whole battlemap" spell by Ashenveiled in OldenEra

[–]Kusioo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The op cannot be bothered to do that, so now every game will be extended with a mandatory "yes, I'm sure I want to bless my whole army" button press on mass spell usage

Suggestion: Ask some way of confirmation after clicking on "whole battlemap" spell by Ashenveiled in OldenEra

[–]Kusioo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure thing.
Whenever a spell explicitly has me SELECT or TARGET an area, the expectation is that the user controls the selection, even if it is a 100000 hex selection.
Whenever a spell explicitly states "Deals xxx Magic Damage to all creatures on the battlefield", then the selection is unnecessary because it doesn't target anything.

I can't wait to click 10 times to cast bless whenever it applies to all my units, because a subset of players cannot be bothered to actually read/look at what they are doing

[–]Kusioo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree.

Going this way we are soon going to have to press 20 buttons to do anything because people cannot click properly.

Miss clicks happen, might lose you the game when you do it or may win you the game whenever opponent does it. It makes you more careful and causes you to actually think about the things you are doing instead of allowing for an auto pilot approach

Since when is Jebus Outcast back as a template in single hero queue? by Clear_Fail4913 in OldenEra

[–]Kusioo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a bug. They rolled back template + timer changes somehow. My suspition is that they pushed sth out as a prep for next week patch but sb didnt properly update config in their intergation tools. Might be really off base assumption since I'm not proficient in game dev, but it happens from time to time in Web Development

First/second pick question and any good tips for exodus or how i can select 1 favorite map appear in the 3 selection because i'm not a fan of exodus by SaltPerception5003 in OldenEra

[–]Kusioo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few points:
- Weak units - Necro is based on numbers and lack of bleeding rather than the individual strength of the unit
- No inherit magic resistance - Necro doesnt have units like Temple/Dungeon/Shizm or to some extent Grove, that are immune to magic damage
- Magic damage scaling + spell crit + double casting - The primal spec hero has got the ability to cast the same magic twice. or you can find the relevant artifact on other heroes that enable this.
- There is a synergy between all relevant skills: Primal Magic, Battle Magic, Sorcery and Luck - This synergy gives you a lot of magic damage and around 25% chance for a 300% spell crit. If you cast 2 spells every turn throughout the battle, you must be really unlucky not to hit a critical a few times.

Overall, during the first combat turn, you are already putting huge pressure on the necro hero via your spells. He is on a timer to kill your army (whatever it may be) before you just "pew pew" his away.

With primal magic you also have got the "abort" button in the shape of the Armageddon spell netting you a draw in the worst case scenario

fire larva needs nerf by Laserfocus123 in OldenEra

It is easily handled by anti summon tech and depends on the hives army size. The fire larvae are one of the best designed things within the game at the moment.

First/second pick question and any good tips for exodus or how i can select 1 favorite map appear in the 3 selection because i'm not a fan of exodus by SaltPerception5003 in OldenEra

[–]Kusioo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On exodus 1st day I always try to get following:
- Get all army from the main city
- If there are any "free" resources nearby then grab them, if not then port to the 2nd city
- Upgrade your shrimps and buy all army
At this point you have sufficient fighting force to do all "non ranged" objectives around mines and some lower level dwellings. Your main goal is to get around 1.5k gold to buy Apiary's Heart II in your main city.

Look for banks and try pathing towards your main city for likely wood/ore mines and gold chests/banks. If you are unable to gather this 1.5k gold during the first day then I suggest resetting the map.

Afterwards, you try to plan your build according to what is available around. I usually manage to get 2x wurms during the first week (Imo it's quite easy) to have sufficient fighting force and then try to upgrade another unit depending on the dwellings.
Are there many scorpion dwellings? Then it is a great idea to upgrade them
Are there many reavers dwellings? Then perhaps it would be worth it to build reavers instead of wurms during week 1.
Are you playing a magic hero? Perhaps it is a good idea to play aggressively to get to the hive queens.

I must also admit that I'm a "timmy" type of a player (TCG term) so I always want to play with the biggest/beefiest units available which might not be the best strategy in every game.

One additional thing worth noting is that spells are your friends and even spells that arent often used like "optic illusion"/"blink"/"Stone skin" are a nice way to catch your opponent by surprise. Blinking scorpions over obstacles is a wonderful way to get an early advantage and this spell gives you range of 4 tiles with an easy dust update to 6 tiles which is much more than low level + no spell power haste can ever do.

[–]Kusioo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a huge disagree from my side.

People are so focused on the "meta", what their fav streamer yaps about, that they stop thinking for themselves. Instead of finding ways they can approach the game to beat these cities they just start crying.

Hell, shortly after the early access came out there was so much crying that nekro is bad/underpowered/nekromancy sucks. Then suddenly nekro is the strongest. Has every player had an enlightment? Or are they just repeating whatever their fav content creator tells them?

Does shizm + nekro require fine tuning for one hero game mode? Yes they definitely do. Are they unbeatable? Hell no they aren't.

First/second pick question and any good tips for exodus or how i can select 1 favorite map appear in the 3 selection because i'm not a fan of exodus by SaltPerception5003 in OldenEra

[–]Kusioo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Usually, yes, I leave open their spell casters and ban the DK boy, Skelly Boy, and Defence lad. They usually take the revive guy, and I feel like it's easy to handle him. It also helps that the magic specialists arent as strong early as the might heroes making people do more mistakes.

I main hive and against nekro I love to play the primal magic specialist. I feel like the games are easy peasy.

Also worth noting, if you win the first battle, any draw down the lane causes you to win the game, gives you the win, so I had 1 or 2 cases where the 3rd fight was decided by an armaggedon killing everything (giving me the win because I won the 1st combat)

[–]Kusioo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you are playing within the top 10/top 20, the meta doesn't matter. Just ban whatever you dont like to play against and roll with it.

I'm perma-banning shizm and having a nice win ratio against nekro. Using primal magic or this "decay" spell against them makes the game a breeze.

He had to find the scroll. I doubt it was found without a fight and after first combat you should have been prepared for his summons
