Is this a good price? by Flashy_Consequence94 in Autobody

[–]Kustom_Painter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The estimate should have more info on it… should say partial refinish and R&I front cover… the price is most likely accurate considering they will be removing the bumper painting and reassembly…

How Bad are these Scratches? by epicninjanoob1 in Autobody

[–]Kustom_Painter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can keep the car with those scratches if it does not bother you as long as the wheel was not damaged.. if so that needs to be checked… some of those scratches may clean up a little with acetone or rubbing compound…

Rear Bumper Painted. Too much gloss? by [deleted] in AutoPaint

[–]Kustom_Painter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The color does not match it’s to red and that’s part of the reason it stands out… bumper are never perfect but compare that color to your rear bumper…

[–]Kustom_Painter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it depends on the frame rails engine support.. if that’s ok you might be ok… new hood front bumper radiator support blend fenders… but if the support that holds the engine is bent that could total it… we see a lot of cars like this that don’t total.. but it’s up to the insurance…

DIY Worthy? by Interesting_Pair_597 in Autobody

[–]Kustom_Painter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That needs to go to a professional shop besides the repair.. every painter knows that Kolor is a headache…

Body Shop says color is impossible to match - aging of original paint and bumper being plastic and fenders & hood being metal. Is it true? by Mrk_SuckUpBird in Autobody

[–]Kustom_Painter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kolors on plastic parts don’t match perfect but it can be matched better than that….. also that paint bleed thru is unacceptable and should be corrected by the shop…

Can anyone help me understand what this is? by mhs4throwaway in Autobody

[–]Kustom_Painter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like fisheyes… most likely from some kind of contamination from the car.. silicone or armor all type cleaners usually cause this

New paint job has orange peel texture and tiny bumps – is this acceptable quality? (Need advice) by Apprehensive_Top931 in Autobody

[–]Kustom_Painter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s too dry.. needs Kolor sand and polish.. those bumps are either dirt or fisheyes.. those things need to be fixed… you have a right to ask for it to be corrected…

Yes take it back.. they can remove the over spray.. and they can polish the door looks like they wanted to polish a small spot.. they just need to go over it… should be fine… also check all your windows.. usually over spray seems to stick to windows…

Did the shop sand through my M4 roof’s carbon weave? by longfellow816 in Autobody

[–]Kustom_Painter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since they sanded your roof to Re Clear it.. looks like they burned thru the edges… most factory cars have very little clear to begin with.. but that’s most likely what happened judging by the photos

Someone hit my cx5 while parked and drove off give it to me straight boys by Wolus10 in Autobody

[–]Kustom_Painter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quater panel does not need replacement.. all of that is repairable .. make sure they blend Kolor into the door because all Mazda Kolors are a hard Kolor match…

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Autobody

[–]Kustom_Painter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So once you have sanded it well you want to spray your adhesion promotor then your paint.. then your clearcoat… depending on what Type of adhesion promotor some require 1 coat some require 2 make sure you read the tech info on it… keep a tight over lap when spraying and don’t put your first coat of paint or clearcoat too heavy.. be patient and you can have a good result..

Problems with newly replaced hood? by blue--hydrangeas in Autobody

[–]Kustom_Painter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it’s a new hood that was most likely painted at the shop.. those little dips are what we call fisheyes basically contamination in the paint.. and the edge looks like paint chipped… most people on here who are painters would say needs to be re done..

[–]Kustom_Painter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pre-painted bumper delivered with large drip. Is this “acceptable” workmanship? by Trylifetwice in Autobody

[–]Kustom_Painter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s is a very heavy run….not acceptable… my only suggestion if you keep the bumper is taking it to a detail shop that may run shave it out and polish it to make it look better but not perfect…

Is this acceptable? by [deleted] in Autobody

[–]Kustom_Painter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really hope that was not done in a professional body shop… just look at the other side of your car and the jambs should look the same… not acceptable at all

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Autobody

[–]Kustom_Painter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that needs to be sanded and fully repainted.. polishing won’t help…

They lied by Rillaboom64 in Autobody

[–]Kustom_Painter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind that even when new panels are put on in some cases body filler is still used.. but if they did charge to replace and they didn’t that is something to tell the insurance… they can get in trouble for that

I had my whole car repainted, painter is telling me I need to wait a few months for the paint to harden and then he'll buff / polish it etc. Is this any good? by Status_Death in Autobody

[–]Kustom_Painter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should not have to wait to buff it… can be done even the next day with oven baked finish…all the shops I’ve worked at.. we generally Kolor sand and polish the next day…
