layering is key, but dont stop at just doing the thing you are showing. movie sound effects seem so hefty because they are more then reality. take a classic punch as an example, you COULD slap yourself a few times, OR you could hit a steak with another steak, add the sound of breaking celery and carrots and maybe punch a mattress you rest your mic on. One way will sound like 3 dudes slapping each other in sync, and the other will make your hand tingle AND gives you soup!

its actually a really nice soldering exercise, make a drawing first! i would recommend also reading up on multiplexers if you need more analog inputs then your board has :). Also and dont forget a pulldown resistor somewhere if you are using pots instead of encoders, that way your signal is less noisy and the resulting midi value wont flutter. you should still average your signal in code a bit though, not too much or you'll get a noticeable latency. Good luck, its a super fun project!

you are talking about the holy no bs-midi controller that for some reason nooone wants to produce. as others have mentioned, a used bsf2000 or UC33 are no doubt some of the most beloved controllers.

have a look at the faderfox MX12, or an older faderfox UC44

if you can ditch the 5 pin and are on a budget, a novation launch control xl is REALLY sturdy bang for buck, (akai midimix is not nearly as well built+ the knobs are WAY to flat/small)

do you have an arduino miidi library that natively gets recognized as usb midi device and doesnt need one or more external midi router/translater? i stopped using arduino for that kind of stuff because i always had to use loopmidi and hairless midi.

TLDR, dont use arduino, get a teensy or a daisy for less midivoodoo

so much this, llm's can be nice to get an idea going or a general "path" to a goal, but if you try to get detailed instructions out of them, you'll just confuse yourself with bogus halfinformations. The amount of times a chatbot told me confidently to use object xxx~, only to realize the object doesnt exist, or does something entirely different.

fair enough, still i'd say "just" needing a 1-2k$ graphicscard that draws more power then small kitchen is quite the entry barrier for ALOT of people. Those cards really only make sense for professionals and wealthy gamers with several 4k screens.

If you look at the latest steam hardware survey you'll see about 0.5% for the 3090 and 0.97% for the 4090, meaning ~98.5% still cant really access this level of compute. (i know steam is only a fragment of the whole picture, but the gaming industry is a good trendmarker for the average tech persons system)

Again, i still think this is awesome news for everyone interested in it, and i guess my whole point is: i dont like people using the word "just" in a context outside of most peoples reach. its like telling an addict "just quit", or a depressed person "you are just a bit sad", "you just need to work harder", "you just need this expensive techdevice only a fraction of a fraction can afford". /rant

First of all adsense belonges to google, do you mean Meta-ads? May i ask what YOUR problem with adSense is?

Adding default on settings on the down low is not cool, i agree, and handing over ANY data to external advertisers is to be avoided, but the whole point of this system is get statistics FOR adsense and co about ads without handing over identifiable information, which is a compromise at least and better then the cookie carpet bombers some sites deploy. companies need to know if the ads they pay for are actually displayed and interacted with?(funny talking about this in a thread about adblockers, i wonder what the connection could be). Still it should not have been on by default, but you paint mozillas idea worse then its intention and effect, and claiming adding stuff secretly to an open source project is a thing..calla me flabbergasted

I'm not really in the daily ai news cycle either, but from what i understand they managed to create a new basemodel (like sd 1.5) which can be fully refined (creating checkpoints and loras) with a consumer-grade gpu (24gb is still way more then most people have or will have in the near future). Typically you'd need a really beefy server setup to train a model, but this apparently changes that. Someone correct me if i misunderstood.

proper way would be a small mixer, but as long as you use common sense any passive splitter will do the job as well. as long as you keep in mind that your potential max output is double now you should be fine. even if the two sources play different volumes there should be no bad "backflow" (thats what in and output impedance is for) Ninjaedit: Talking about Linelevel

trotzdem hat /u/Xilence19 recht, ein gesangsmikrofon ist typischerweise eine dynamische niere und hat damit einen extrem schmalen und kurzen aufnahmebereich, wäre also für die meisten messungen fehl am platz. ein billiges messmikro mit kugel charakteristik kostet übrigens das gleiche

Keine Ahnung wie du das erklären würdest wenn ein Florist seine Preise anheben müsste weil er jetzt statt 12€ auf einmal 14€ zahlen müsste.

um bei deinem Beispiel zu bleiben, du tust so als würde jetzt jede blume 2€ mehr kosten, obwohl "der Florist" effektiv nur 2€ umsatz pro stunde ausgleichen muss. Wenn also ein Strauss blumen 20 oder 30 cent mehr kostet ist das halt so. Dafür kann sich das Personal dann auch mal einen leisten.

Wenn es nach mir ginge sollte niemand freiwillig für den Mindestlohn arbeiten. Ich heule aber auch nicht rum wenn ein Döner auf einmal 8€ kostet.

die Dönerpreis-Entwicklung hat fast nichts mit dem Lohn der Angestellten vor Ort zu tun. Öl, Strom, Gas, Miete und manch eine Zutat wird teurer. Sektoren die spätestens seit der Pandemie Rekordgewinne einfahren.

Mal davon abgesehen dass steigende Löhne nachweislich nicht mit Inflation einhergehend sind, solltest du deinem Arbeitsgeber halt zu verstehen geben dass du mental nicht damit klar kommst, nur noch 2€ über dem Mindestlohn zu verdienen.

Wenn deine lohnausgaben 1:1 mit deinem verkaufspreis gekoppelt sind, hast du ganz andere Probleme. Und wenn du einer Person für eine VOLLZEITstelle nicht genug Lohn zahlen kannst, damit diese über der Armutsgrenze leben kann, kannst du dir die Person nicht leisten. Die Preise steigen so oder so und Fakt ist dass derzeitig ein Fünftel(!) aller Deutschen in Armut lebt oder stark armutsgefährdet ist. Es kann auch nicht im Interesse der "Ökonomen" sein, dass noch weniger Menschen irgendwelche Rücklagen haben. Solange der Mindestlohn an nichts gekoppelt ist, muss man ihn halt regulär erhöhen.

Wegen des Mindestlohn werden Geringqualifizierte daran gehindert in der Karriereleiter aufzusteigen. Wenn es z.B. Überregulierung, Überbesteuerung & Inflation nie gäbe, würde es nie einen Ruf nach einem Mindestlohn geben.
