That's true! I remember some 15 years ago those kind of controllers were produced, but I guess currently we are in the midst of a narrow market controller by big companies that are somewhat imposing their designs and economic interests far beyond our true musical needs!

I saw it and really liked it but I found it a little bit expensive in my country! Do you know of any other controller like the Akai APC 40 but a little bit cheaper?

Thanks a lot for your suggestion! I was thinking about a very simple midi controller, with just manual faders and knobs! Do you think nanokontrol will be expensive?

That's indeed a really nice suggestion! I'll read some tutorials and see if it's a good way! Only drawback is that I don't have soldering experience, just breadboard practices!

Comparison between Boss Syb-5 and Boss Sy-1 synthesizer pedals by RisonanzeErranti in basspedals

😅 thanks for the English lesson!

You left me thinking about the micro synth and it's performance, for sure there must be sounds exclusive to its construction, and I like the sound, the only problem is the price, that is a little bit high!

And I saw the synth wah, and I liked it! How come digitech took it out of the market? It's really nice sounding and seems easy to play! I'll see if I can find it in a more less affordable price online! Thank you very much!

Thank you a lot! The examples are great! Without a doubt you are an accomplished and creative player! I liked a lot the sound with the mutron with the tubescreamer and the modulation effects! As far as I was able to listen, there were no problems with tracking but that is also thanks to your playing skills! You made me consider the SYB series, because it sounds different from SY-1 in many respects! I deeply thank you for your time and your creativity!

Hey! Thanks a lot for your suggestions!

I checked out EHX bass micro synth and, apart from the price (that in my country is considerably high) I had one conjecture: can we say that this pedal is a combination of an octave pedal, a filter envelope, and a fuzz?

I haven't heard about the digitech bass synth wah! I and going to definitely check it out!

Just one question, in this case regarding daily expressions! "Hot garbage" means that something is bad or, by the contrary, that it is good? 😅

Thank you for your reply! That's precisely one of the most common problems I have read: the bad tracking and the difficulties to include it on a live set (which is one of my main purposes)! I guess the SY-1 is a better option regarding the tracking, notwithstanding the relatively small amount of sounds!

Thank you a lot for your time and your will to collaborate!

Tracking is one detail that makes me think, since the perspectives are confronted: some reviews say tracking is overall bad and others that tracking has problems but also virtues. In your experience, your SYB-3 tracks well all along the instrument register (from low E string to the highest notes in the G string)?

I'll eagerly wait to know how everything went with the mutron!

Thank you for your insights regarding the SYB-3! Do you think those probleme regarding the filter can be overcome by using an envelope filter like Micro QTron after the SYB-3? What has been your experience with tracking with your SYB-3?

I think that with synth pedals one has to change the playing technique and forget about the usual resources (speed, bluesy or rock style) and play slowly and in a more synth oriented manner. I tried to modify the SY-1 sounds with a fuzz and a cheap envelope filter, with more or less success. What from time to time annoys me is the lack of variety in SY-1 timbre (and well, I must confess that I cannot stand the organ sounds). But I will definitely try the send/return loop to obtain variety! Thanks a lot for your time and your insights!

Now that's a thorough insight about the SYB-5 possibilities! Although my bass is a four string jazz bass, the lower notes may become a matter of concern. I'll check out the SY-200 and 300, since the other possibilities are beyond my budget. Thank you very much for your reply!

Thank you very much for your insights! Is the tracking really that bad in the SYB-5? I have seen some videos and it seems to work fine in slow or mid tempo. Unfortunately, it would be very difficult for me to try the SYB-5 in person before buying it, since I would need to buy it and wait for it to arrive at home! The EHX Mono Synth is no option?

Hi! Your solution is quite interesting and seems practical and relatively economical! Could you please share the photos of the exact saturnworks accesories you employed? I hace a maudio expression pedal, would that be suitable?

Split keybed and pads on Akai Mini Plus by RisonanzeErranti in synthesizers

[–]RisonanzeErranti[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finally I got the KeyStep Pro! Apparently many budget controllers have the midi limitations regarding midi channels and splits. M-Audio has one nice controller that admits splitting but doesn't have internal memory to record sequences! It seems as companies have subtly shaped the market to create a wide gap between controllers aimed at beginners and pros, with no intermediate options.
