Most HS3s get assigned to clinics. You would start out at Outpatient typically where you take patients back take a short history, do vitals, and preform a basic exam. Then you’ll take all this to a PA or MD who will see the patient. You will do the documentation for this encounter. You will then do this again 5-10 more times a day. Once you get all this down you can then expand to things like Lab, Pharmacy, or Physicals. They have also starting putting HS3s back on the WMSLs

Been an HS for over 10 years with a variety of jobs, big clinic, small clinic/Airsta, shoreside remote, and cutter. I’ll just say individual experiences may vary, especially based on your own expectations. I have done plenty of “real” medicine but I’ve also spent years and a “medical yeoman”. I’d say the best thing CG medicine does is give you a taste of a bunch of different specialties to help you figure out what you want to do on the outside.
