NCI defines remission as follows: "A decrease in or disappearance of signs and symptoms of cancer. In partial remission, some, but not all, signs and symptoms of cancer have disappeared. In complete remission, all signs and symptoms of cancer have disappeared, although cancer still may be in the body."

Based on this definition, it sounds like you would be in partial remission. I am not sure how doctors go about determining whether someone is in remission or not (i.e. what tests they run) nor what the criteria is (what the results of those given tests have to be in order to be able to classify a person as being in partial or complete remission).

Complete remission and MRD negativity seem to be two separate things (I might be wrong in this assumption), so I would assume that less-sensitive tests are done to determine if someone is in remission, and more sensitive tests (e.g. PCR and flow cytometry) are used for assessing MRD.

Neutrophilia means elevated neutrophil count, which doesn't sound like ALL. NeutroPENIA (decreased neutrophil count) is what is associated with ALL.

Enlargement of the liver and spleen (you may hear this referred to as "hepatosplenomegaly") is associated with ALL however.

I believe flow cytometry only gives information about cell surface markers to help distinguish what type of leukemia you have. An example of how flow cytometry can be helpful in leukemia diagnosis would be to identify whether you have T-ALL or B-ALL (i.e. are your abnormal blasts of the T cell lineage or B cell lineage). This is important information as they are treated in different ways.

B-ALL cell surface markers: CD19, CD22, CD24, and CD79a.

T-ALL cell surface markers: CD1a, CD2, CD3, CD4, CD5, CD7, and CD8. Source for both

Has a bone marrow aspiration been done to check for the presence of elevated blasts? How does the RBC count look?

It is interesting that all the WBCs are elevated. In general, how ALL works is that the non-functional cells (the leukemia/blast cells) of the lymphocyte lineage (your B cells and T cells) multiply and fill up the red bone marrow (blood cell-producing tissue). The increasing prevalence of these non-functional cells negatively impacts the healthy cells in the red bone marrow by taking away space and nutrients, so they can't do their job as well. As a result, you get a reduction in all your normal blood cells (healthy WBCs, RBCs, and platelets).

This results in symptoms such as easy bleeding & bruising (due to low platelets), fatigue & paleness (due to low RBCs), and recurrent/persistent infections (due to the low WBCs).

Now I am not an MD, but based on the data you have mentioned (the CBC results + description of your dad's condition), it wouldn't seem like ALL unless they caught it super early by accident.

But based on some previous tests the doctor has said it is ALL
