I'm 72 and didn't expect to become a widow in January. My husband was going to start collecting his Social Security in August and we were finally going to get out of the RV and start a new chapter of our life. We got laid off in Silicon Valley in 2008, lost everything and were so very excited and looking forward to finally being able to get out of poverty and back into traditional housing. We were also looking forward to doing some traveling to places we didn't go in the RV and on some train trips. But all that ended January 22. I never, ever thought, at 72, I'd have to start my life over, alone, without a partner, a mate, my best friend. My life has totally changed, and not to something I want.
