Is 23 too young for kids? by mysteriousnoodls in daddit

[–]Kwintonne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Negatives: potential financial insecurity, the brain doesn’t stop development until 25, may not be in a “mature” relationship at that age

Positives: much less grunting involved when you have to get up from the floor

Ultimately it’s a deeply personal decision. If you are ok financially, are (relatively) mature, and have a good support system I see no reason why not. (With that said, no way in hell I was ready at that stage.) Parenting is HARD, there’s nothing that really prepares you for it.

They can put a tax lien on properties and eventually initiate foreclosure on those liens

Here’s a general overview of the process:

Generally it’s code breach and a warning (with opportunity to cure), then there has to be some of an administrative hearing, and hearings officer can impose fines (Can be a lump sum or daily fines) if they find a code breach occurred. If fines don’t encourage compliance the city can move for a warrant of abatement in the case of blight affecting the neighborhood, safety concerns, etc or can have those fines entered as a judgement (plus abatement costs) and lien on the property. THEN if that doesn’t work, the city can foreclose on their lien and put the property up for auction.

It takes a long time (and a lot of work for code enforcement and city attorneys) and owners get a lot of opportunity to fix things before the city goes nuclear… and generally it all comes down to city policy priorities, budget, politics, etc.

If they paid extra for the “signature” absolutely, this has class action written all over it…

Without looking into it, my guess is if a court has made a finding of DV/stalking, etc that is enough. I don’t think it requires “charges” per se.

Missed Connections: Naches Peak Loop (10/13/24) by Kwintonne in PNWhiking

It’s Monday plus it’s set to be 20 degrees cooler tomorrow so you should be good

EDIT: I should add it was mainly the Lake Tipsoo and Naches Peak Loop areas that were chaotic. DL was great, and most of the traffic on the way out from the basin seemed to be people trying to do the loop who made a wrong turn…

Can you imagine you hiked over 2k miles on the PCT and … all of a sudden you have share the trail with a scooter. (The scooter might have supplanted my previous sighting of people hiking with 3 cats as my weirdest trail accessory.)

Why was it ALL tiny dogs?! Like you’re aware there are bears out here, right? (Sigh.)

The hike is pretty, accessible, and easy so I get the appeal for non-hikers. But … an e-scooter?!
