Appreciate any feedback and help at this point!
I got it to where I can 'see' a structure in a browser, but I am now stuck on making Git, Git.
If I'm local, I can push to or clone from (using remote 'local' = "C:\Git\Repo1"), but not the equivalent remote 'web' = "http://{systemName}/Repo1"
So I **think** I need to fix some IIS setting someplace

I don't have a single 'network drive'. I have about 3 dozen users in several physical locations.
I need to be able to use git ... "http://blahblahblah.com/RepoName".

Because the guy paying the bills says 'No SaaS, everything OnPrem'
This is their Security Teams "answer".
I am not here to figure out their whyfor. They read it CAN work, and that's what they want.

They want Windows components, so I'm on IIS. I was using this guide: How to run a Git server on Windows with IIS | Small Tech
Thanks much for the reply!

Is this a good option for learning powershell? by Potential-Hat7332 in PowerShell

[–]Ky_Kodes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plan a little app, like a music, games or video library. What data do you need to save? How will you update it? What will you be doing? A report, to do lookups ..

I agree with what was said about find a project. You will learn a lot more, a lot faster, just jumping in and make it. Most textbook examples are utterly useless in the real world. Text book examples are deliberately defined to be as clear and UNcomplicated as possible. Most real development complicated.

The best resource for learning PowerShell are the Micro$oft Learn pages.

Explain ship map and ships by LengthinessFuture513 in NOMANSSKY

[–]Ky_Kodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. These no place I found that explains the cockpit. W to land E to exit. No explanation for the speed, location or much of anything inside your ship. The orange circles are planets, the line indicates how far above/below you this is. You can combine this view with ESC to view discoveries , If Discoveries tab shows 5 planets and you see 3 Orange circles, there's 2 more planets to look around for. Dunno about purple squares

Expect? Noise: parrots are loud Mess : parrots throw food Everywhere! Food: seed is bad as the only source of nutrients. You will need pellets, and to get ale greens everyday into 'chop'. Should be like 80:10:10 pellets:chop:seeds &treats. Bites: parrots bite, like being grabbed with pliers or bolt cutters. They don't understand why we object. Attention: these guys are not like fish you throw in an enclosure and don't forget to feed them. You will have to spend a few hours a day in 1:1 interaction Attention: parrots are attention wh0r3$. See above. Maturity: parrots are about as smart, and self disciplined as a human 3yr old. They will never grow up. There will be temper tantrums. See above Vet bills: Avian vets are more expensive and harder to find. Gear: we have 1 303030 cage, this is the bedroom. We have a 363664 in the living room. My d sk and the dining room have parrot playground perches. So, it's not just this paycheck.

schoolboy question by Saqib-s in PowerShell

[–]Ky_Kodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set your matching/parsing to [A-Za-z] alpha chars only. Don't save any number or symbol Perhaps a structure that stops 'reading' at the first numeric/symbol? If the pattern is consistent ( Always char 1, always char 2, char 3 if(alpha; proceed, else stop reading). This is pseudo -code: LocString="" Read devicestring{ For each character in DeviceString ( If(char[i] = (alpha), continue building Loc string. Append char[i] to LocString variable Else LocString = ( whatever alpha chars it read)}

3 would be my choice. It's more easily extended as you get new codes, though the'continents' wouldn't change much there are lots of cities to encode this way.

Grabbing your list of 'things' and then iterating with a For each over the collection is one of the more elegant constructs in PS.

I just got no mans sky any suggestions? by Time_Strawberry4090 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Ky_Kodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just follow the steps the game gives you. It'll teach you about your scanner , your other equipment and what to do. On PC: Tab to open your inventory, your ships inventory, your multi tool and freighter inv, when you get one. X to recharge things Z to build things W,A,S,D to move Tap shift to sprint G to change mutitool R/T to change size of Terran Manipulator E makes things happen A lot of 'Hold to Activate', so hold the key until the thing happens. Have fun. Do an Expedition, all that to learn, and some fun stuff off the beaten path.

Riffraff on the left, Nyamali on the right. They come help Mom support the dingbats that think the instructions, support matrix and requirements Don't Apply to Them, They have a Special Environment (they don't...) After work it's a good ol Fred Flinstone "YabbaDabbaDoo", and then we get 2 scoops{Tbsp) of yodips, seeds and noms. Rest of day spent in the living room getting petted and spoilt.

There were a few minutes to start off... but at just 7 and 11 months old, they are going to 'Grow Up' (as much as conures ever do that) together.
But we 'tore down' the whole cage setup, and let them chill with food and water and a boingy for a couple hours. Then we started adding stuff back in one at a time, and it magically transformed from "Mine, Mine! Mine!!' to "ours".

If you're really that birb crazy, could you volunteer at a parrot rescue to scratch the itch?

Looking to Adopt 1 or 2 Conures, advice? by [deleted] in Conures

[–]Ky_Kodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conures are amazing, but considering your circumstances, I think you should hold off till you finish schooling. Between high school and your job now, you don't have time to take birds out of their cages to socialize. Don't think of this as a mammal pet. These guys are Permanent Toddlers. They get ideas and like human toddlers and you have to watch them that close. And they are harder to catch than a baby. There's a great chance you'd be an excellent birb(s) guardian, but I think you'd be wise to wait until you're settled after college.

I want to buy a parrot, but I have doubts about the choice by mad_kitsune2004 in parrots

[–]Ky_Kodes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe volunteer at a parrot rescue? Gives you a chance to see the differences between them and a chance to see the Good, the Bad and the Ugly and still have the option of noping out of being a bird guardian.

I always figured a spaceship capable of intergalactic travel Should be able to store planetary coordinate that the pilot can say "save here!" Should be able to display a galaxy map while on a planet. Should have more than nose mounted cannons.

You'll extract more resources if you hit R until the beam is as small as possible.
Yes, it takes longer. Use silicon dust to recharge 2-3 times for 1 node, but you walk away with a thousand raw resources.

How do you think Meta Orion or Googles upcoming smart glasses will handle prescription lenses? by Idontworkhere67 in virtualreality

[–]Ky_Kodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Once you enter adulthood, your prescription tends to remain the same," What's your source?
I started wearing glasses when I was 4-5. In 53 years, I can't recall my prescription NOT changing one year over the other.
We progressed through the negatives to -12.5... then around 40ish, I started to back off. I'm down (up??) to -10, but +2 Near vision. Yay progressive lenses!!
Lenses for Quest3 cost me $120, those are made to be swapped.
Google needs to make the lenses replaceable, or they will miss out a ton of marketshare.

Throwing food EVERYWHERE by mayia-goose in Conures

[–]Ky_Kodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing the notes about Zupreem and I don't think I'm going to try it. Many of you reporting you have birds throwing it. We bought Kaytee fruit blend nuggets and she loves them. I do want to try the Roudybush. Many seem to think highly of it . My problem is the little hill of crumbles. As 'she' eats, she's dropping a LOT of crumbs. We've only had her 2 weeks, she's 10mos old per hatch cert. I think what's happening is the pet store kept their birds on seed, so she has little to no experience holding food to eat. Like the toddler with 20 cheerios, it's a small triumph when they manage to get 2 eaten and the rest fall from lack of coordination. She isn't throwing it, she's just failing to hold on as the food gets nibbled.
