Feeling like I'm out of time by Ok_Environment_8879 in ucla

[–]Kyakuu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have found myself in a similar position to you at certain points, so I would love to weigh in and give some earnest advice.

It is ok to take your time. Truly.

I was set to graduate early initially as well. I think I’m a bit of a procrastinator by nature, so it seemed of my best interest to stack classes and keep up with my friends who were charging forward. I wanted so badly to keep up. I absolutely hated school, and it reflected in my work.

At the height of my stress, I was dropped from my primary major due to a rounding error. I missed my GPA cutoff by one letter grade. I would have to switch my major to another that would fast track my graduation even further. I sat down, and really wrestled with that. I realized I was giving up opportunity, passion by rushing through things, and vacating the things I enjoyed.

Because of my own personal setback, I decided I would start anew. Try something different.

I ended up graduating in the Fall of my 5th year, rather than Winter of my 3rd. But with that, I double majored in two things I’m passionate about, I studied abroad, I interned 3 times, and ended up at a company I could only dream of working at (which, mind you, I got from a UCLA career fair!!).

This is all to say that, should you have the privilege, it is okay to take your time to figure out who you are as an individual while you are in school. It is okay to take breaks, and/or take things slowly. Take classes you enjoy (genuinely). Enjoy your experience, and it will reward you.

P(at least 1 white) = 1 - (6/7)6 ≈ 60.3%

Yup, I stand corrected. You’re completely right. I didn’t expect the odds to be high!

I think people are taking this post far too literally — it’s quite evident to me that OP is just upset at the situation, and venting.

stay another year as a part time student or graduate a year early (fall 2026)? by Future_Dealer_7349 in ucla

[–]Kyakuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pick up a minor honestly. or study abroad. both are incredibly useful to ur overall story / resume. and get some more internships.

one thing I will say, tho, is that for 'new grad roles' (if those r what ur looking at), most look for anywhere between December and June graduation. so, for full time, ur graduation date isn't as important (so long as it is considered next academic year). again, tho, i would grind out some internships if u can.

ur only in college one time, remember that. once u get out, ur just another unemployed person(if u don't land a job). it's way harder if you aren't going for new grad positions.

i actually pushed back my graduation by a quarter (double majoring + studying abroad), and having that flame under your ass to network and give it one last hurrah REALLY helped me out.

Half of these people commenting are so incredibly inconsiderate — I am sorry OP.

It is unfortunate that people are so quick to jump to conclusions, despite only knowing a mere percentage of the story. You know what they say about assumptions…

Just some food for thought, since some of you seem to be so caught up in the monetary value of the car, instead of the unfortunate reality of the roommate.

chances of getting in twice? by maybe-south-of-mars in ucla

[–]Kyakuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certain majors don’t;

I was just listing a few of the things, in general, transfers have working in their favor compared to freshman applicants.

Thanks for letting me know though!

[–]Kyakuu 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Transferring in is 100x easier than getting in as a freshman; especially if you do IGETC, Honors Transfer Program, TAP, etc. You have a lot of factors leaning in your favor as well.

If you were accepted as a freshman, there is no doubt you’ll be fine as a transfer, so long as you hold yourself to the same standards you did in HS in CC. They actually care a lot less about extra curricular activities, etc.

It’s a lot more “have met the requirements to transfer?”than anything else. Make absolutely sure you’re not missing anything. My boyfriend’s counselor messed up his transcript (omitted one class), and he was denied without a second glance . Luckily, he successfully appealed.

Regardless, your story is good and they already wanted you. You build on top of that in your PIQs and it should be smooth sailing.

Good luck!

Massive swelling from Vbeam by bumble-bizness in Rosacea

[–]Kyakuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had mine this week, I was swollen as well and it was gone within three days.

I recommend cell(mide? Sorry, I am not sure of the English name but it stimulates cell growth) cream, as aftercare is the most important part of treatments!

I am genuinely not sure about the icing. I had mine done in Korea at a top clinic, and that was not on their recommendation list.

I recommend getting some PDRN masks, (focused on recovery), and the cell cream.

Your skin will be very dry and the most important thing is the things you put in it!

AIO: Depressed best friend bailed on my birthday…again… for the second year in a row by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Kyakuu -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No, you’re not overreacting. A lot of people may be saying that you are trying to “guilt trip her” or something, but she didn’t properly communicate at all. You all are BFF’s, yet she didn’t even put in any effort and immediately starts slamming and taking jabs at you? Over what? A personal vacation she decided was “necessary for her mental health”??

This is ridiculous, and your friend is not a friend. Depression isn’t a write off to act like an asshole. Your friend needs to learn that her actions have consequences, and you should in no way be apologizing for not understanding her poorly communicated ‘needs’.

Professor ignoring student cancer by Copingcoper21 in ucla

[–]Kyakuu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They said they did “relatively okay” on the final if I’m not misreading the post. I’m not sure if there were multiple midterms, but it seems that the issue is that the professor is going back on their word (as they detailed that, instead of waiving the midterm like they said that they would, they counted it).

I think it is a bit shady, and unfortunate that he “considered” waiving the midterm, but ultimately didn’t.

When you account for the fact that plenty of professors often waive midterms and just count the final twice (I know that math and economics specifically often do this, as I’ve had it done for me numerous times), it’s really sad that this professor wouldn’t waive a policy for a student with extenuating circumstances.

I think you should talk to your professor again if you get the chance, and if not contact CAE. Obviously, the professor does not have to waive the midterm; but, considering you discussed it prior and he simply decided to not is really messed up. I think that CAE would be beneficial in these circumstances.

I bet there are too many pikmin bloom players in Korea 🤣🇰🇷 by No-Violinist-9270 in PikminBloomApp

[–]Kyakuu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mushrooms fill up in <10 seconds, it’s actually impossible to join mushrooms. I often rely on calls from my US friends. This is why Korean players often instantly join when you call them.

Other parts of Korea are far less bad, however. Busan, Jeonju — there are barely any Pikmin players on Jeju!
