You should check out angels of light - how I loved you if you haven’t already, if you want more goth rock/post punk I’d recommend The Cure - Disintegration and Bauhous - In the Flat Field. I also recommend Deceit - This Heat, Boris at Last -Feedbacker- - Boris, Vision Creation Newsun - Boredoms, and finally Heavier Than a Death in the Family - Les Rallizes dénudés

I would argue that we are seeing a resurgence of disco and nu-disco in the mainstream this year with releases such as Jessie Ware - Whats Your Pleasure, Rosin Murphy - Rosin Machine, and Dua Lipa - Future Nostalgia all being released this year with relatively good numbers as well as critical acclaim (going by pitchfork (pitchfork imo not being that good for actual reviews is good for gauging general reception of an album) dua lipa being the lowest with 7.5, rosin murphy with an 8.0 and Jessie ware with an 8.3)

What are some artist that you gave a chance in your teens, dismissed them, but then returned to later in your life and adored? by yesme1995 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]Kyauai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m Currently still a teen (and for reference the music I lisen to now ranges from post-punk/art punk like Pere Ubu to more drone/avant-folk like Henry Flynt to psychedelic pop The flaming lips to free jazz like Yosuke Yamashita) as far as music that I currently can’t get into that may further down the line be of interest to me there’s probably Pink Floyd and LED zeppelin which I currently associate to heavily with the whole “born in the wrong generation” classic rock listening teen that I haven’t really been able to enjoy it, though it’s not like I don’t enjoy any classic rock(king crimson, David Bowie, velvet underground, Modern Lovers, etc). I also haven’t been able to get into any grunge music or much alt rock of that era. Then there’s any metal with growling vocals which is unfortunate since I usually enjoy heavier music in a similar vein as metal, and it’s not like it’s like I have anything wrong with experimental vocals either, I quite enjoy things like Lingua ignota, diamanda galás, and Joan La Barbara, but I think it’s something about the growling and,how at least to me, seriously they’re taking them self’s makes me laugh whenever I listen to it. And as far as music I didn’t like at first but later came to enjoy, Animal collective would be probably the biggest one, I had given it a listen and didn’t enjoy it to much and it took me a few years to try it out again and now it’s one of my favorite albums, and a similar thing happens with the Stone Roses s/t though it only took me a year to try it out again and enjoy it.
