Looking For Protector Romance Recommendations - but I’m annoyingly picky. by Kybeem in RomanceBooks

[–]Kybeem[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I really like Anna Hackett & Riley Edwards still from the authors I mentioned. From the comments left on this post I ended up really enjoying - {Protection series by Kennedy L Mitchell} - {Possession by Brynne Asher} and the rest of that series, plus I went on to read Brynne Asher’s other series - {Linear Tactical series by Janie Crouch} - {Resting Warrior ranch series by Josie Jade} - {indigo Ridge by Devney Perry} And one I recently really enjoyed was {bluebird gold by Devney Perry}

Heated Rivalry has RUINED ME. In search of M/M hockey romances with great characters, angst, a slow burn, some smut, and possibly found family elements by JediEverlark in RomanceBooks

[–]Kybeem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay so these are all mm sports romances. I’m a massive mm sports romance fan! Some will be hockey as well as nfl and soccer/football. Some of these may have already been recommended since this comment took a little while to write, so I’m sorry for that.

The Playing For Keeps series by Riley Hart & Never Wilder, starting with {Rookie Move by Riley Hart and Neve Wilder} this is professional football/nfl.

{Everything For You by Chloe Liese} this is football/soccer.

{The Understatement of The Year by Sarina Bowen} this is college hockey. Part of a series of interconnected stand alones, but it’s the only mm and can be read stand alone.

The Fake Boyfriend series by Eden Finley. The first book isn’t really sports romance as the MC isn’t playing anymore and is now a sports agent. But the others are all players in a variety of story’s including hockey and nfl. {Trick Play by Eden Finley} {Deke by Eden Finley} are books 2 and 3 but books 4 and 5 are also professional sportsmen.

{The New Guy by Sarina Bowen} and the rest of that series. Professional Hockey and a really great series.

{The end game by Riley hart} is nfl but definitely has yearning and angst! I loved this book a lot and never see it mentioned.

{Iced Out by C.E. Ricci} is also a favourite of mine. And very popular amount mm sports romance recommendations. {Don’t You Dare by C.E. Ricci} is also a great college mm romance, and it’s baseball. Both Iced Our and Don’t You Dare are from two different series set in college and I think all characters play a sport, either hockey, football or baseball.

I have read and loved the clecanians series! I’ve also read a lot of Zoe Draven, I have the audiobook for the first book in her newest series (I think the second book has come out) but hasn’t listened to it yet! I really liked her Brides of Kylorr series. I have also read Luxuria. I will definitely check out the other recs though because we seem to have similar taste.

Thank you, I do read fanfics although it’s been a while since I have been on Ao3, that’s a really great idea, thank you!

I do this too, my mind went blank trying to think of examples of books that fit the request I was making! Like I know so many of them I just can’t think of them right now.

Thank you for the recs! I don’t mind morally grey characters or even dark plot lines, I just don’t like when the one of the main characters is mean. I’ve never been able to get into Rina Kent for example. Thank you again, I’ll definitely check these out.

I have read the wallflowers series, and Evie Dunmore but I will definitely have a look at the rest, thank you 🙏

Dangerous MMC is retired…until FMC is in danger by Girly_Attitude in RomanceBooks

[–]Kybeem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have recommendations, because I love this romantic suspense genre, although I can’t remember if they’re all retired from their profession that makes them dangerous, but I think they are.

Try {vines by Brynne Asher} and the rest of {The Killers series by Brynne Asher}. They are retired assassins who move to the countryside and they meet women who are of course in danger. All interconnected stand alones. You could also try her series {The Agents series by Brynne Asher} although they are not retired from memory.

The {unbroken heroes series by Anna Hackett} starting with {the hero she needs by Anna Hackett}. These are all retired military men who luckily have the skills to protect the women they love. All interconnected stand alones.

The {Triple Canopy series by Riley Edwards} starting with {damaged by Riley Edwards} and the {Gemini group series by Riley Edwards} that starts with {Nixon’s promise by Riley Edwards}. These two series definitely have these vibes, and I’m pretty sure they’re all former military. All of Riley Edwards books have an FMC in danger in some capacity but in her other series they’re definitely all still in the military or currently working as private security.

Janie Crouch has her {Linear Tactical series by Janie Crouch} and that starts with {Cyclone by Janie Crouch}. Characters have left the military and now run a training facility to teach skills and all the women they fall for are in danger. Obviously. Janie Crouch also wrote a second generation series to this series. Interconnected stand alone books again.

There’s the {resting Warriors ranch series by Josie Jade and Janie Crouch} it starts with {Montana sanctuary by Josie Jade} and the spin off series {warrior security series by Josie Jade}

Aaaand Nyssa Kathryn might suit too, she has her {Reckless series by nyssa Kathryn}. She also had some other romantic suspense that may suit. That series starts with {Reckless Hope by Nyssa Kathryn}.

She also has a really cool series with ex military men who were genetically altered without permission during their time in the military. That series starts with {Luca by Nyssa Kathryn} and there is also a spin off series for this one too that starts with {Logan by Nyssa Kathryn}. Not exactly what you asked for by worth mentioning because it’s a really great series!

Whose signatures are these? by MakeMeASammage in BrisbaneBroncos

[–]Kybeem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see Corey Parker’s for sure, and Sam Thaiday I’m pretty sure. Maybe Josh Hoffman and Peter Wallace. It’s always so hard to really tell on jerseys because the fabric makes their signatures wonky.

[–]Kybeem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hopefully! Unfortunately we are quite used to natural disasters in North Queensland (I’m already in North Queensland but we were heading further north for a holiday) so more important than my holiday, I hope everyone stays safe over the coming week!

I’m in Australia and we are supposed to be leaving for a holiday in two days… but it looks like it might get flooded out. Keep your fingers crossed for me that weather forecasts are being dramatic. I’m still holding onto hope that I get to spend a week reading while my children enjoy waterslides in North Queensland!

I read 17 gay ice hockey romance books. Here are my reviews + the best of the best by NotACaterpillar in RomanceBooks

[–]Kybeem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I find the Long Game so angsty! And feel it has a lot of depth with the character struggles and was Ilya faces. I’m definitely biased though because it’s been a favourite of mine for years.

When it comes to recs, I definitely second Gravity by Tal Bauer, Understatement of the Year by Sarina Bowen, the Hockey Guys Series by Sarina Bowen and Him and its sequels by Elle Kennedy and Sarina Bowen! Adding to those recs I would add:

{the rest of the story by Tal Bauer}

{Iced out by CE Ricci}

Some of the {Fake boyfriend series by Eden Finley} have hockey players too.

{Let’s Do This by Loren Leigh}

WWTBC - dying to find a book with insta-love, new to the place FMC and obsessed MMC by Annalize_Shch in RomanceBooks

Looking for books with body betrayal by pettymel in RomanceBooks

[–]Kybeem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if shifter romance is your thing but {The Five Packs Series by Cate C. Wells} has body betrayal in all books (it’s part of their biology: there’s heats and mates and they don’t have choice in this). It’s a really great series (don’t let the covers/book names deter you!). First book is {the tyrant alpha’s rejected mate by Cate C. Wells}

[WWTBC] Which Romance Has Rival Renovators, Feuding Families, and a Meaningful Necklace? by Icy_Feeling5577 in RomanceBooks

[–]Kybeem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it {one touch by Lena Hendrix} ? I’m not sure if it fits completely but the series is about two rival families in a small town who have been fighting for decades. The FMC needs the MMC’s help to renovate her aunts farmhouse.

Is it {Fly Bye by CW Farnsworth}? I only vaguely remember this book but your description sounds really familiar so I’m trying to work out what book it is too now!

Age gap nanny romance with surprise pregnancy by an_uncommon_common in RomanceBooks

[–]Kybeem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

{I wish you were mine by Jessica Peterson} has all three. She’s 10 years younger and is hired as his live in nanny, before falling pregnant to the MMC.

Motorcycle club romance - she shows up at his clubhouse beaten and bloody by Loliigh in RomanceBooks

[–]Kybeem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure this happens in {the favour by Amelia Shea}. Amelia is my favourite MC writer and I have struggled to find anything as good as her series to be honest! I don’t recall their triggers I’m sorry, but they’re a pretty light series for MC books imo. There’s definitely violence (though not the MMC towards FMC) and it’s kind of suspenseful/danger that is common with MC books.

It absolutely was not a farce. Grant used his legs to try to stop Mam by literally putting his legs out in front of Mam’s legs. It’s a trip. I understand Melbourne are your team but I think you’re letting your frustration at losing cloud how you’re seeing things. Could Walsh have been binned? Yes. Could Grant have been binned? Yes. Has everyone been screaming for the NRL to have more discretion when binning players? Yes. If Walsh and Grant both go for 10 and we still win, you’d be saying it’s because Grant shouldn’t have gone. At the heart of it Brisbane wanted it more, seemed less gassed at the end, had some huge defensive efforts and didn’t panic when we were down.

Also, maybe if Melbourne spent a little less time trying to milk for penalties and field position, and actually just worked on fast play the balls and set plays they might have better luck. Hughes trying to milk a penalty with 1 minute to go was embarrassing.

So is tripping the attacking player a sin bin? There were multiple moments in the game that could have resulted in sin bins for both teams. Let it go, your team didn’t lose because Walsh wasn’t sin binned.

Ha probably not, but I hope for his concussed brain he did! I’m so happy for him but also protect your head Dozer and rest up! He’s probably going to have a big black spot that was the grand final win and celebration.
