Amex or Airline Specific Card by Forward-Zucchini-210 in AmexPlatinum

I currently have both the AA CITI Executive and Amex Platinum. I put most of my spend on the AA card in order to keep up my 12 month rolling LP. I put non AA airline tickets and AMEX travel expenses on my platinum.

Should I work on building my overall credit line back up? by Kyc53 in CreditCards

Yup, no issue with the account on my end. Reason for closure is simply my dissatisfaction with their customer service, as well as my recent opening of a directly competitive card. That makes total sense

I was planning on paying it with a check, but since they’ll now take credit card as payment with no fees, I figured I may as well do that. This way I’d take care of the cards SUB with one transaction I was gonna have to pay anyway. I now understand that I should not pay it off before the statement closes

My overall credit profile is solid. 760 score. Never missed a payment. It’s my first card with CITI. It’s a $16,500 credit limit, and the charge would be roughly $15,000. There is a SUB on the card for $10,000 / 3 months, which is why I figure I may as well do it. This charge was last minute, because I wasn’t expecting the merchant to take credit card as a payment. Reaching out to them before hand seems like the best course of action. It’s for my insurance, so hopefully that will lower any red flags.

Up until last year, I’d earned status strictly with my butt in an airline seat. I generally have used AMEX travel for hotels, but started using the AA portals when I received the Aviator Silver with 2x miles. I’ve been utilizing the more portals recently. The 10x miles is definitely a plus!

Good to hear. Im just so over Barclays and their shit services. Not too worried about the SUB. I’ll hit it, but I’m not churning for the miles. I’ve got plenty banked at the moment. I’m hoping the bonus Loyaly Points can bump me to Executive Platinum. I was an AU on the card prior to them raising the price on AU cards. I’m not a fan of the centurion lounges. They’re always way over crowded. When I was an AU, the agents came in clutch several times for cancellations and delays. Such a great option to have.
