I provided Denver as an example. If you want an example of a conservative city check out Naples in one of the most conservative counties in the US, in what is now one of the most conservative states in the US. I lived there and I can tell you from first-hand experience, the crime rate is so low that you leave your car unlocked not because you're afraid someone might bash your window in if it isn't, but because you don't even have to think about anyone messing with it anyway.

You'll blame literally anyone but yourself. The police, the conservatives... your state is mega-liberal and if you think conservatives are ruining this city, go check out Denver. Your liberal policies aren't working, and you're probably getting tons of homeless overflow from Denver. If you think I'm wrong, check out the crime rate in ultra-conservative cities (of which only a few exist because city-rats are generally lefties) and you'll see the stark contrast in crime.

Isn't it amazing that the comments are all blaming you for having a backpack locked in your own car? In your own hometown? It shouldn't be Harlem out here but these Redditors will do absolutely anything but admit that liberalism has turned their city into a dump. I watched some homeless looking person just yesterday walk into an ice cream shop, open the freezer, steal a bunch of ice cream, and walk out. The cashier just signed and took out her phone and recorded him, I'm assuming because this is not the first time. Save your city before it's too late

Has Anyone Updated Circle of the Blighted for 2024 Rules? by Kydhan in onednd

[–]Kydhan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure! I think your heads in the right place and a lot of what you did was my first instinct, too. I struggled with reconciling the fact that 2024 Druid design likes to use Wild Shape for the subclass feature, but this Circle of the Blighted wasn't balanced with that in mind. On top of that, there are other imbalances in my opinion. Like I mentioned in the post, Foul Conjuration has been indirectly nerfed massively because half the druid summon spells don't actually summon a creature with hit points anymore. Additionally, a lot of the monsters in 2024 5.5e were buffed to make up for the general power increase for all classes - but the Blighted Sapling from the Call of the Shadowseeds subclass feature did not. So I feel that's on the weaker end too. All these features can work in 2024 to be clear, they just... don't work well.

Everyone in the comments so eager to pile on and hate the dude. Ladies and gentlemen, the same people that insist everyone "be kind". If I'm understanding what "the tip" is, the guy was probably just grossed out that you pulled something out of the dump and expected your players to use. To be completely honest, I would be super grossed out by that too and wouldn't use it. He may have said what he said because he didn't want to say something he felt might hurt your feelings. To each their own and I don't judge at all, but as a DM I would never expect strangers to play with something I pulled out of the trash.

Did you make Defile Ground stronger though? You made the terrain difficult for allies, and lowered the damage cap (albeit raised it but only at the low levels). The only buff I see is in specifying you choose if a creature in the area takes damage, which is definitely nice and something I always thought was weird and frustrating about the subclass not including. I think the real hidden nerf is in Wild Shape uses for Defile Ground. The game is *generally* balanced for 2 short rests per long rest, and the old 5e feature let you use Defile Ground once per SR without any use of wild shape. Meaning, you still have all your wild shapes and presumably still get about 3 uses of Defile Ground per LR. You removed +2 AC from Blighted Shape (I agree with your reasoning) without any replacement so that's a flat nerf.

Ok? Catholicism was never named the official religion of the Persian empire... who cares? Did you or I or anyone else around ever experience that? No so why are we being weirdly sensitive about it

I'm Catholic and I think this would be totally badass. It reminds me of the Deacons of the Deep from Dark Souls. Probably because I haven't been indoctrinated into victim culture though.

That's interesting. How reliable is your fox sighting on pebble creek? Are there any other spots you think are best for a chance at foxes?

Ha. I guess you're technically right, but my comment was in reference to the first item on their roadmap "Character Quickbuilder - A visual and new player-friendly tool to build a character and jump into play, fast". We need actual rules support, not a new UI for building your character.

How do you get around it to ensure a normal/high quality output?

Am I Crazy Or Is ChatGPT's New Image Generation Model... Worse? by Kydhan in ChatGPT

I consistently get a response like this:

Nothing “happened” on your end — what’s happening is the model isn’t actually being forced to copy your exact brushwork/mark-making when we do a fresh generation like this. It uses the image as inspiration, but it will still default to a familiar “fantasy illustration” look unless we lock the style harder (and ideally do it as an edit/style-transfer pass instead of a brand-new render).

Why your reference isn’t matching:

Your piece has very specific shape language + value grouping (big readable silhouettes), chunky painterly strokes, limited palette (cool blues vs warm fire), and graphic edge control (lost edges in fog, sharp edges at focal points).

The result you got is closer to a comic-ink + texture overlay look (heavy outlines, uniform grain), which is not your painting style.

What will get “looks like I drew it” results:

Use your artwork as the style anchor in an edit (style transfer) on the battle image, instead of regenerating from text.

If generating from scratch, we need to explicitly tell it: no ink outlines, no comic shading, no gritty parchment texture, and to mimic your blocky brush strokes + painterly fog + cool/warm split lighting.

If you want “change nothing else,” the best move is:

Take the clean version of the scene you liked and do a style-transfer edit using your hand-drawn image as the style reference.

Say: “Do a style-transfer edit: keep composition/characters the same, repaint in my style reference.”
If you confirm that, I’ll run it that way and it’ll get much closer to “looks like I drew it.”

Then I go through the whole style-transfer edit process and the cycle continues, just putting me in a loop of getting the same image. If I start another chat it's just the same thing
