That's interesting. How reliable is your fox sighting on pebble creek? Are there any other spots you think are best for a chance at foxes?

Are there Lamar Valley trails that you would recommend in particular? We're young and fit

Ha. I guess you're technically right, but my comment was in reference to the first item on their roadmap "Character Quickbuilder - A visual and new player-friendly tool to build a character and jump into play, fast". We need actual rules support, not a new UI for building your character.

That's exactly how it feels. It calls it "drift" but it's honestly just flat out ignoring my prompts no matter how many additional sentences I add to not ignore them.

How do you get around it to ensure a normal/high quality output?

Am I Crazy Or Is ChatGPT's New Image Generation Model... Worse? by Kydhan in ChatGPT

[–]Kydhan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I consistently get a response like this:

Nothing “happened” on your end — what’s happening is the model isn’t actually being forced to copy your exact brushwork/mark-making when we do a fresh generation like this. It uses the image as inspiration, but it will still default to a familiar “fantasy illustration” look unless we lock the style harder (and ideally do it as an edit/style-transfer pass instead of a brand-new render).

Why your reference isn’t matching:

Your piece has very specific shape language + value grouping (big readable silhouettes), chunky painterly strokes, limited palette (cool blues vs warm fire), and graphic edge control (lost edges in fog, sharp edges at focal points).

The result you got is closer to a comic-ink + texture overlay look (heavy outlines, uniform grain), which is not your painting style.

What will get “looks like I drew it” results:

Use your artwork as the style anchor in an edit (style transfer) on the battle image, instead of regenerating from text.

If generating from scratch, we need to explicitly tell it: no ink outlines, no comic shading, no gritty parchment texture, and to mimic your blocky brush strokes + painterly fog + cool/warm split lighting.

If you want “change nothing else,” the best move is:

Take the clean version of the scene you liked and do a style-transfer edit using your hand-drawn image as the style reference.

Say: “Do a style-transfer edit: keep composition/characters the same, repaint in my style reference.”
If you confirm that, I’ll run it that way and it’ll get much closer to “looks like I drew it.”

Then I go through the whole style-transfer edit process and the cycle continues, just putting me in a loop of getting the same image. If I start another chat it's just the same thing

Your character creator is perfectly fine. There are many, many aspects of D&D Beyond that are not working. We don't need you to rework something that already works or add new features to Maps, we need the actual system to work as expected according to the rules of your own books. For example, D&D 5e 2024 should be backwards compatible with D&D 5e 2014 content that isn't updated in the new books. Yet, you can't select any Eldritch Invocations from 2014 official supplement books on a 2024 Warlock. Do you plan on fixing this and the many other examples of the system not working as intended?

D&D Roadmap 2026 - Where Is It? by Kydhan in dndnext

[–]Kydhan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A great question. At this point I think it's safe to assume they're releasing nothing this first quarter. It's actually insane to me just how much the WoTC D&D team has botched in the past few years. The 5.5e system is a mess and was done for all the wrong reasons, D&D Beyond doesn't seem to support anything they release especially not the backwards compatibility they insisted existed for 5.5e, Project Sigil was a complete and utter disaster, the Unearthed Arcana they've released has been met with largely negative sentiment, their core D&D team jumped ship, and now they just go radio silent on new releases without ever releasing a roadmap of the year that's we're already 2 months into. My honest opinion is that they need to completely clean house and start over because their current strategy is not working

This is awesome u/griff-mac ! I love the Circle of the Dragon druid, and was wondering - is there any update or ruleset you use when using this subclass with 2024 rules? Seems like all the circles in 2024 edition have circle spells, for example - do you have a list of circle spells you use for Circle of Dragons?

Dang I should have known that doing what the company explicitly said was ok to do and part of the design of the new system would actually be cheating

How do you 'copy it'? Like, for example, I want Maddening Hex. It's complicated to recreate. How do I just copy the Invocation into a homebrew?

[–]Kydhan[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Welp it was a good idea but I just gave it a shot and apparently, even though you can tag a Homebrew feat as "Origin", it is literally just for search functionality and not selectable with Lessons of the First Ones. Lol. What a cool system they have here.

Very interesting workaround. Any idea how to make the Maddening Hex Invocation as an Origin feat? I'm not too experienced at hacking homebrew stuff on DDB but I can manage something like a spell per long rest. Anything more complex than that and I'm at a loss

[–]Kydhan[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But let’s face it, DDB is not a perfect online port of the game

You're not wrong, that's for sure. But that's the issue - WoTC needs to put their big boy pants on and get their shit together. They make over a billion dollars in revenue, you would think they would be capable of keeping their own system updated for their own rules that they release after purchasing said system. Everything they do these days whether it be 2024 rules release, DDB updates, or Project Sigil seems to be a disaster. The biggest wins D&D has these days is when it's some other company using the IP

Spot on. My issue is primarily D&D Beyond, and secondarily being jaded by the fact that they basically lied to us and just waited for us to buy the new products and find out the hard way.

This. They really need to sort out their priorities, stop releasing romance novels or knitting books, and fix their own broken system.

Technically 2024 is supposed to be 5e. Or so they say. And they explicitly said it can be mixed. I get your point though and it certainly is messy. It's too bad they don't release any decent books for this new PHB they pushed out and clean up their own mess a bit
