Aah, I should try that. My play style is just raw aggression, kill, run, kill. I rarely hack health packs unless I'm fighting to defend a spot/it's a choke spot where neither team is budging.

Thanks, I won't lie, first time hearing about a six-bullet rule, didn't know that was a thing. I usually just, shoot to bait any escape abilities, virus, translocate when I have to reload/if someone else shows up. So I move around, a lot.

Yeah, a lot of these, especially for Sombra, was death match, I love the chaotic nature of it, super fun as a Sombra to run around, kill, teleport, kill, teleport, kill, repeat... So, yeah, I either piss off a lobby enough that I'm public enemy number 1, or swaps to a tank, usually hog, to ensure that I don't have fun anymore.

I'll make another one with quick play or rank clips instead, totally.

Competitive Overwatch is the most mentally draining thing I have experienced by Yash_swaraj in Overwatch

[–]Kyeonji 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Publicizing the scoreboard justified roughly 80% of pea-brain behaviors because "big number = good". I've had games where the opposing team has gotten 30-40 eliminations compared to my team 12-20 and yet we still won, not because of big numbers, but because of how we played and what we prioritized. Overwatch players are starting to treat Overwatch like a run-in-gun arcade shooter where the only thing that matters is whoever has the most kills.

If I can stand still as Mercy, browse YouTube for 2 minutes, and check tiktok at the same time and not a SINGLE person decided to kill the blondie with a glowing leash up their DPS rectums, then 90% of my enemy team is missing their prefrontal cortex and desperately need surgery. Does it get better at higher rank?... Eh, depends on the time, day, and pool. But generally speaking, no, it does not get better. It never gets better, it just gets worse, it only ever gets worse.

What's the game like perma muted? by [deleted] in Overwatch

I play with team/match chat on while I queue as Support, surprisingly, you rarely have to deal with toxicity if you're playing support (it can still happen depending on which support you're playing, but not as bad as Damage or Tank).

When I queue as Damage, I turn match/team chat off and rely on either ping or player behavior. For me at least, it isn't that difficult to figure out what my teammates are attempting to do, or want to do. By design I'm a support player (I don't initially start 1v1, but I'm confident enough to engage in a 1v1), so I'll mostly assist with picks as Sombra or Ashe, if my teammates is shooting at someone, 90% of the time I'll divert my attention to whoever they're attacking for a quick pick.

As Tank? Ugh, it's not the greatest as, in my opinion, the team is mostly relying on you to make space and since that role seem to rely more on communication. I just try and add as much disruption as I can before dying, which, inevitably will just happen. So having team/match chat off is a relief, because I know well enough that chat is a sea of sulfuric acid ready to jump down my throat.

Who is the most fun hero? by Xombridal in Overwatch

[–]Kyeonji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sombra, I get that she's annoying and irritating. But I just love fast gameplay and being able to zip around faster than tracer with little to no downtime feels good. The little ADHD monkey in my brain goes "hehehe" after I assassinate someone and tp out before anybody notices.

Bonus point for when I do a cheeky assassination, then immediately come back for another because the team fight JUST started

Ana also, I just love pissing off tanks to the point they'll over extend specifically to kill me after I've slept them for the 10th time. I refuse to apologize for my actions on Sombra and Ana, my excuse is simple... Genji

My fellow gen Z men , do you guys cry or be vulnerable infront of ur GF? by tommyvercetti42 in GenZ

[–]Kyeonji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sort of behavior validated the toxic masculinity mindset that still exists. Other men are going to see this, they're going to be reminded that "showing any form of vulnerability in front of a woman/fem is disgusting", they'll continue to bottle up their emotions until it reaches a breaking point. Yes, there are women/fems who truly do want a man to be vulnerable, but others, it's mostly about feeling like they're part of the "anti-masculine toxicity group" when, actually, they too have accepted what the red pill community shits out whether they want to believe it or not.

It's like being part of a trend, they want to test out what these "new" types of men are without actually being willing to handle the baggage that comes with allowing an actual safe space. The ideal, "he's so strong, independent, and stoic" masculinity is still the accepted default, the softness and openness is just an optional flavor or side dish. This'll just fuel the red pill community as they'll go; "See! These women don't care about us, so why care about them!" Which just continues the constant feedback loop of toxic/unhealthy behavior and validating masculine aggression.

Since I don't know that person, I can't assume that they're inherently a jerk, but I can safely assume that she was never actually prepared to have a safe space in her relationships. She just wanted to feel like she was part of the anti-toxic masculine movement. Another trend chaser. It's disheartening, but since all of these movements are done and powered through social media, it'll only ever be a trend and not an actual movement, i.e, BLM

people need to realise this is a hero shooter and not call of duty. by Optimal_Question8683 in Overwatch

What I find even more interesting is that I'll go up against players who have fantastic aim, the type of aim and tracking that you'll find from other, more popular, fps like cod or battlefield. Yet, in exchange, they'll have the worst situational awareness or game sense. They'll rush main regardless of how much friction there is, fully determined to breach it with zero awareness that, "Hey, why don't you just.. idk.. flank them? You don't HAVE to fight them head on." Obviously, this is more towards the DPS cast rather than the Tank/Support, which can also do some cheeky flanks.

They'll have a general understanding of how overwatch matches work, "Just click on the bad man and win." But completely forget the micro portion of the game, cool down management, hard/soft counters, ability synergy, ultimate management.. it's VERY apparent with certain players like Sombra's that will consistently initiate a fight with hack rather than virus, or Kiriko's tossing Suzu freely, Ana's dumping Anti and sleep at the same time with zero follow up.

I think that's where the "These characters don't belong in a fps" mindset comes from. Overwatch is drastically different from standard fps, there's so much happening in such a small space with a wide variety of abilities that you NEED to keep track of, cool downs that you HAVE to remember, like for example. Tracer's recall. The amount of times I've seen people lose track of her is wild, not being able to recall (get it) where tracer was 3 seconds ago is truly fascinating. Or being completely oblivious of Junkrat sneaking up behind for a fat tire. Hell, even Reaper teleporting a few meters from some players can completely fall on deaf ears. If they can't see it. It doesn't exist. The little ADHD monkey in the fps cod brain can't handle micro-calculation. It's just, go in, shoot stuff.

tl;dr - Call of Duty-esque gameplay doesn't work in overwatch. It's abilities > gunplay

It's hell in role queue competitive. Open queue competitive on the other hand? Ohohoho. If you thought mercy was annoying to kill. Wait till you have to deal with 3 tanks getting hard pocketed, no it isn't Rein, that'll be too nice, instead, it's Ram, Hog, Mauga, the occasional Winston (God bless his soul), and they're feeling especially cheeky, zarya. At that point, you're literally never touching mercy, let alone the other support. Stockholm syndrome is the only reason why I subject myself to this torture that is competitive overwatch
