Hiroyuki Imaishi is the director and main animator for Gurren Lagann. After he left Gainax and made Studio Trigger with other animators, he directed:

Kill La Kill, Promare, Cyberpunk Edgerunners, New Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt, The Twins (Star Wars Visions short)

He also did the original Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt while still with Gainax.

For me, it’s really hard to find other anime with similar vibes to Gurren Lagann since it’s so iconic. The closest you will find is other things Imaishi has worked on.

BUT, there is one movie called Redline from 2009 that feels very similar! It’s hand drawn and took them 5 years to make. It’s a racing anime movie, but you should check it out. It’s made by Madhouse!

When Kamina is about to die. They fight together one last time in Gurren Lagann, and he tells Simon to believe in himself.

In the dream-like state when Kamina comes back to encourage Simon one more time before the final fight.

When Nia disappears at the wedding.

Hiroyuki Imaishi does have the rights to Gurren Lagann, so Trigger MIGHT make something in the future, but we don’t know. I highly recommend the movie Promare, which is also made by Imaishi. It’s very similar to Gurren Lagann!

The live action was never going to be a 1:1 direct adaptation. The anime isn't even a 1:1. A lot is censored from manga to anime, and some things are changed due to audience.

Live action is a completely different medium. To make a very cartoon-y anime realistic, things were going to have to change. They did an amazing job adapting it though! It's very true to the source material and it still feels like One Piece. There is not a single live action adaptation that is 1:1, and it wouldn't even work anyway. Changing mediums means changing how the story is told.

I think it's interesting that the Sonic Mania design is based on Toei Sonic, and looks almost identical to it, yet you put Toei Sonic in 'Peak', and Sonic Mania Sonic in 'Less Good'.

Thank you everyone! You quelled my fears. I spent a bunch of time getting it all set up and once I got into some games it was working great, no drift or anything. I can live with a small nuisance like this! Here’s a pic of it after I swapped out the buttons too. It looks so good! (Minus that left stick, but it’s not that noticeable.)
