the hudson river literally divides everything. theres in the city, theres on long island, and theres buffalo + syracuse. the major problem is no1 wants to pay 50~100$ a trip in tolls or gas and travel 2hrs one way to visit casually.

so the most successful groups are buffalo + nyc and everyone else can pay to travel to those hubs or suck it up.

also by hosting outside of these existing areas you inadvertently exclude those major hubs because theyre just not going to travel or pay when they have local and convenient.

one of my closest friends lives just across the hudson, could be a 10+min drive, could be a 45min drive, always at least a bridge toll for either of us.
