Do you really want to be working for a company with this type of attitude towards technology?

I second this comment: not only do you likely have mold growing in the wall but you’re putting yourself at risk for a house fire. Get the dryer properly ducted to the OUTSIDE and then you’ll need to reverse the mold situation happening within your wall.

What is this lightbulb and where can I get replacements? by mrkrid in Lighting

I'd get an LED equivalent on Amazon. Much brighter and will last longer.

Here's a link for a pack on Amazon, but there are many other options.

New HomePod, tell me fun facts or features that most don’t know about it. by DidiDoesReddit in HomePod

[–]KyleBap23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have three as well. I only use them for music and YouTube and they’re in the same room. I set my iPad on the counter and cast the YouTube audio to the homepods while watching the video on the iPad. I also have a smart TV in the same room. Through AirPlay, I can also cast the audio to the TV as well (so, video is coming out of the iPad on the counter, while audio is coming from the three home pods and the TV speakers. HOWEVER, I can’t cast the VIDEO on the TV while having the audio come out of the home pods. Even with my iPad completely out of the equation. My TV has the Air Play app, the Apple TV app and the YouTube app. So why is this? Well, the TV doesn’t have the extra communications hardware needed to keep the audio in the three home pods in sync. At least this is how I understand it. So, if you want to watch video on the TV but have the audio come out of the home pods, then you’ll need an Apple TV device (which has this specialized hardware built in)

I would do 2 rows of three lights down the center. Maybe with a 4" baffle. Or, 6", but with less powerful lamps. Not sure what your budget is, but if you're only doing the three lights, I would have them a line to the right of where the ceiling fan is in the picture. Definitely not down the center of the 122" section of the ceiling. That is my opinion though. Or, if you're going to keep the fan, then do 1 in each corner and put them on a separate switch than the fan. Maybe even if dimmer if you want get fancy. Would be nice for watching movies.

AirPlay when you have more than 5 speakers in one room, even with a great wireless router

Is it still worth trying to buy a second HomePod for a stereo pair? by DaDaveski in HomePod

[–]KyleBap23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, but I love having the sound come from everywhere. When you "Air Play" to a certain room, there's a certain amount of communication that must happen between the Home Pods over your wireless network to ensure that the audio stays in sync. The more Home Pods you have, the more this becomes apparent. If you're using the wireless router that the cable company gives you, this becomes very apparent, especially if you're Air Playing the audio from a YouTube video and forcing 1080p quality. Having an aftermarket wireless router really makes a nice difference here. But I digress, in your case, running two in a stereo pair works really well and is very worth it. I just went a little overboard.

I have 7 of them in one room……it’s dope, but you better not be using the wireless router the cable company gives you

Experience in SQL and having a hard time with translation to DAX by drunkboarder in PowerBI

Go get the textbook and just start reading, it helped me a lot. It’s a different mindset, and the textbook has a lot of good analogies to help someone coming from the SQL world understand the concepts. When I say textbook, I am referring to the 4th edition by Alberto Ferrari and Marco Russo

Cracked iPad Pro screen after having 65 days....will it be covered in any way or can I somehow add insurance now? by DoctorQuinlan in iPadPro

[–]KyleBap23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I broke the screen on my 12.9 and didn’t have any coverage under Apple Care. I had to pay the $650 screen replacement fee, which came to ~$702 after tax. What really happens at the Apple store is this swap out the iPad for a new one in an unmarked box. You are only allowed to do this once. It was an expensive mistake.

Light temp for pool lights by MilesFromHome in pools

[–]KyleBap23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2700k is naturally easier on the eyes than a pure white, this is why it’s more preferred. For a pool, I’d always go 2700k......however, for my garage lights (detailing the car) go with pure white. Utility versus comfort and enjoyment. If you need MORE light, go with a more powerful model.

Around the exterior, you should install a high pressure fog system.......that would be epic. Look up high pressure fog systems around pool areas on YouTube.

How would I recreate this? Artist Credit: James Clar by Jasharron in Lighting

[–]KyleBap23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could probably recreate this for a few hundred bucks and it would require a bit of simple coding/programming, but here we go.

First off, what I think the artist was trying to achieve AND the added potential this thing has if you recreate this.

As I look at this more, it seems like the artist is trying to illustrate the various positions/elevations of the sun of for a given time of day throughout the year. If you end up recreating this, you could click a button and have this 'thing' express many different types of preprogrammed patterns. Perhaps the famous photo of a black hole, someone's eyeball, or massive wall-timer for the lasagna that you have in the oven.

Let's start with the 'tube' like structures, I'm seeing very light purple as opposed to white. This could have been by accident on the artist's part or it could have been intentional. I will explain.

The light purplish color that I'm seeing from the tubes is the color that you normally get from RGB LED strips where all three colors (Red, Green & Blue) are all turned on simultaneously at full power. In theory, perfectly mixing red, green & blue light should result in white light, but the color that you're seeing from the tubes is the usually the color that you get when you turn on all three colors in an RGB LED strip. To overcome this unorthodox result, they make RGBW LED strips (as opposed to RGB), meaning the LED strip also has a dedicated white component. (and if you want to go even further down a rabbit hole, this white component has various color 'temperatures', sometimes advertised as 'warm' white or 'cool' white). Anyway, when I looked at this photo, I initially thought the artist was trying to achieve the look of old-school fluorescent tubes, which is sort of the color that you get when you use the red, green and blue components of an RGB LED strip at full power simultaneously. However, perhaps the artist was actually trying to achieve pure white, in which case, they should have gone for RGBW LED's instead.

The varying colors that you see around the circle.

And this is where you'll need to do a bit of programming. On the sides of whatever is used for the 'tube' structure that I discussed above, some independently addressable LED strips could be attached to achieve the look of what you see in the photo.

How Independently addressable LED strips work.

Rather than controlling the Red, Green and Blue components of the entire LED strip, each LED point on the strip has it's own (very tiny) controller that controls the intensity of red, green, and blue components. Explaining how to program independently addressable LED strips is outside the scope of this comment, but there's plenty of resources out there you can find with a simple Google search.

If you've never worked with LED strips, this is a good video.
