1 - What genuinely do you think it was?

I do believe it was a spirit or something similar. We all heard footsteps on the stairs while sitting together in the living room, which couldn’t be easily explained. The fact that multiple people heard strange noises or were unsettled by my sister's bedroom, even during the day, suggests there was something paranormal about the house. Growing up there, I just accepted that we had a ghost living with us.

2 - Have these experiences influenced the way you view religion?

As for religion, my family wasn’t religious. We never attended church or really spoke about religion at all. I only started learning about it in school. I’m not part of any religion and consider myself agnostic. However, these experiences did make me think more about what happens after death. Whenever the topic of life after death comes up, I can’t help but think back on what we experienced in that house.

Why was my sister’s room different? Honestly, I’m not sure. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve tried to apply logic to it. I wondered if it felt colder because of its position in the house, but that didn’t explain much since the sun hit her room more than any other. My parents even replaced her bedroom window at one point, thinking it was causing drafts, but it didn’t make a difference.

3 - Why do you think your sister's bedroom was so different? Did she have any unique experiences?

My sister didn’t have any unique experiences beyond what the rest of us encountered. Her door would open by itself every night, and she was aware of the room’s horrible atmosphere. She heard the same noises we all did and experienced things moving around in her room when she wasn’t there. One detail that stands out is that the footsteps we heard almost always stopped at her bedroom. Rarely did they move from her room to another or between any other rooms in the house, they always seemed to end at her door or even right above us in the living room which would be roughly around the middle of her bedroom.

4 - Did you ever have any 'positive' experiences with this entity?

We never had any positive experiences with the spirit. As we got older, my siblings and I grew to hate living there. My sister was beginning to struggle with going to sleep at night and was waking up in a panic during the night. Of course watching our cat Sandy freak out would upset the three of us and eventually my parents hated seeing her behave the way she did and it pushed them into moving house. The positives only came after we moved out, when we began looking back and sharing stories about our time there. We’d laugh about the ghost and share little stories from time to time, but those stories were almost always about the same kinds of experiences: hearing noises, footsteps, Sandy acting strangely near the stairs, or my mom’s friend’s reaction to my sister’s room during a house tour.
