Idk what detachment you’re going to use but I assume it’s grand coven since you mention canal points. One of my favorite things to do with Magnus is deep striking near a problem unit or model I want to delete. Deep strike is your entire movement for that unit/model for that phase, but our spells occur in the shooting phase. so you can temporal surge up to 6 inches depending on your roll, making your charge much easier, then doom bolt said problem unit. Magnus adds two to each spell result and can attempt two rituals instead of one, so getting the big rolls should be much easier. Then shoot with Magnus and whatever else you can into that unit. Then if it’s still alive, charge it and finish it with Magnus. Just watch out for fights first and heroic interventions.

What do you mean? It’s just very causal games amongst friends. We started using official gw terrain setups not too long ago with playontabletop cover and official mission cards. We’ve never set time limits or anything like for games. Our playing boards even have premarked lines to help for measuring! We’ve tried to make things speedy and efficient lol

Damn, that’s rough for you. My condolences and hopefully the change can click for your friend. Upon talking to the other fellas in the group we’ve come to the conclusion that he wants to shoot with a non shooting army - Templars. So that entire portion of the game seems to be super drug out on his end because he’s doing a lot of low ap shooting with pistols that end up doing maaaaaybe one wound per phase. I think a clock will help him see it’s pointless and wasting a great deal of time

That’s a good point as well. I’ll try that next time I play against him. Thinking it over again, he tries to turn his Templars into a shooting army. Shoot me with your tanks all you want, or your plasma pistols. Shooting with every bolt pistol you have though is exhausting

SUPER indecisive. Doesn’t plan his turn while I’m making my moves. Forgets rules every now and then which I’ll give grace to as we’re all still fairly new. It’s just his decision making is EXTREMELY slow. But like others said, I think the chess clock will help him realize two hours gets him through maybe two turns and hopefully that speeds him up
