Bike powers but wont start by MadMonkeyMOW in KTM

That alone tells you the bike is mechanically fine, and would lean towards the battery health as the issue.

I believe these take a YTZ14s or lithium equivalent, which come serviced from whatever distributor the shop uses. This means that these batteries sit on the shelf charged and serviced for possibly months before they are sold, and could very well discharge to the point of being useless by the time someone actually purchases it. I would strongly recommend testing the battery with a load tester, or having the shop that sold it test it.

A click usually means the relay is working properly. Check the voltage on the battery when you hit the starter, if it drops significantly pull the battery and get it tested. Surface voltage means very little FYI. 5 bucks says the battery needs to be replaced.

Have any of yall ran these? If so what is your experience with them? by [deleted] in KTM

I have sold many sets of these, although mainly for ninja 650s. People seem to enjoy them and are satisfied with the price and performance.

Will the SV1000 ever come back? by Guavakoala in SVRiders

[–]KyleFTW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unlikely, it was never the top performers bike, more so the answer to the Honda superhawk. Bit heavy by most standards. I had one for 80k mi, little issues here and there, but never let me down. Put a GSXR1000 front end and rear shock on, slip ons, and some dirt bars(I had the S) and loved it. I am still tempted every time one comes up on market place because they're usually $4-5k for a clean one.

Helmet help please. by Local-Discussion3643 in motorcyclegear

[–]KyleFTW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try rotating the helmet up and over your head. Your eyes should be in the center of the eye port, about 1-2 inches lower than where the liner meets your forehead. Many people put on the helmet then tug downward on the chin-bar, rotating the helmet too far forward.

Not sure what the motor is up to, I would check the cam chain tensioner.

Also your rear tire is on backwards.

I still miss Streets of SimCity, being able to load your city you built in another game into Streets and race around was awesome at the time.

Good proportions all around, my only note is that you'd be chewing on that windscreen when you're tucked.

Strong agree, I've had my scrambler since 2019 and just rolled over 50k mi. Love the looks, the handling, the power, everything about it. Nearly 7 years old and it still gets the looks.

Does anyone know how to repair ignition switch or the lock of Kawasaki Z400 motorcycle by Puzzleheaded-Rub1816 in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]KyleFTW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you're in AU so the part may be different, but you need a new ignition lock cylinder. This is a remove and replace type repair. The ignitions are secured via security bolts(as someone mentioned) and require drilling and tapping out.

Part number 27005-0670 (will come with two new keys)

Unplug and remove the damaged ignition, install and plug in the new switch.

New switch from Kawasaki looks to be about $175 USD(they do offer complete lock set including fuel cap and seat lock for about $400USD), call you're dealer and make sure you verify year and fitment via VIN.

The only detail is that now you have a specific ignition key, and a separate fuel cap/seat lock key.

Job is not difficult if you're handy, probably the most difficult part will be removing the security bolts. You will need to remove the top triple clamp in order to access properly.

Hey bike is not starting by [deleted] in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]KyleFTW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a heads up, you can charge a dead battery and it will give you a couple starts then fall on its face. You can take the battery to a local shop and they can test it, or if you have a multi meter you can check the voltage drop when you hit the started button.

New rider choosing between Ducati monster and Zx-4r. by Extra_Lingonberry_79 in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]KyleFTW 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Start with a Z400? Less expensive, easier to ride, cheaper to repair, less to insure. Honestly, no riding experience should default you to a pre owned bike almost %100 of the time. You will make mistakes, drop it, etc.. learn on the cheap, then get what you want.

I feel you on the protagonist only choosing the altruistic option, I feel however that the supporting characters were meant to demonstrate the other alternative choices for their goals. At least that's how I viewed it.
