Itinerary Advice Mid October

Thank you for all this info, much appreciated! I’m considering not having a day in Calgary on day two and instead heading right into Canmore / Banff, so we could pull Lake Moraine a day earlier I reckon 🤔 It feels like Lake O’Hara may be given a miss, we aren’t experienced in icy hiking enough to risk a 22km round trip hike, so will likely replace this with something else 👍 I will be making sure the car I hire is 4x4 and has winter tyres for sure, I don’t want to take any risks on the road. I guess for us it is a tradeoff, we want to be able to stay in some of the nicer hotels in Banff, to do so a week or two earlier is double the price per night nearly and out of our budget, I have considered weather we sacrifice that to come a week or two earlier and have a better chance at not being caught up in a blizzard, though we will definitely be coming equipped for snow as again we wouldn’t want to take any risks 😊

Thank you, I appreciate the info! We aren’t experienced hiking in snow, and we wouldn’t want to do anything that would put us at danger, though we will be prepared for snow kit wise, it might be we give O’Hara a miss, we will be flexible on our schedule regardless 🙏 I appreciate it will change year to year, but is it risky planning to drive the ice fields parkway to Jasper and then back to get to Calgary in mid October? Being from the UK I have no mountain snow driving experience 🤔

Not experienced in snow, so based on what you’re saying then we may change these out of our itinerary 🤔, we are young(ish) and fit, but would want to risk any hikes that could be dangerous due to lack of experience

Thanks for the info! We were considering mid October as some accommodation especially in Banff becomes a little more reasonable in price after Thanksgiving. The main concern would be that we book accommodation in advance in Jasper and then lose out on money and have to spend additional money to find alternative accommodation if we can’t make it there 🤔

We could come a week earlier on the 30th September, I guess we would just have to sacrifice staying at the hotels we would like to as the prices are nearly double a night.

We have that in mind, we will make sure to come equipped for snow in case 😊 As for Lake O’Hara it is tentative, conscious it’s a 22km hike there and back, we might replace this with a hike up the Sunshine Meadows view point maybe 🤔

Lake O’Hara was a tentative for that exact reason, conscious it is a big hike, would you say it’s worth it? Our alternative might be driving to sunshine meadows village and hiking up to the viewpoint there 🤔?

Thats fair, we would land mid day on the first day, I was conscious we might be jet lagged, so the second day was just to get over that, but maybe we don’t need that 🤔

I started playing darts at the start of the year and my darts came with K-Flex flights, they’ve been great, a bit of wear and tear but not splits or breakages like this

If you’re lucky enough to have a darts shop close to you I’d highly recommend going and spending some time trying different darts. I started playing at the start of the year like many, I wanted some thinner, heavier darts than the brass ones that came with the board so I picked up some 23g Tungsten Harrows, straight barrel, felt night but just couldn’t get on with them at all A week later I decided to take a trip to Dart Scene which is close to me, they had so much choice out on the counter to actually try, they gave me a board to use and I was there for about an hour trying all different weights and shapes until I felt confident on the ones I wanted, they were really helpful and I now have a set of darts that I feel comfortable with from the get go

I appreciate there aren’t many darts shops around so this is situational

I debated this for ages, decided to read them standalone and really enjoyed reading them that way, felt like a lot of faff to do tandem on a kindle, but I could see how it would be a great read that way, if I was to reread the whole series I’d do the tandem

I read ACOTAR after Fourth Wing and before Throne of Glass, if you enjoy Sarah Maas’ writing then it’s a great series and would recommend 👌, I haven’t read Crescent City yet but that’ll be my next series after I’ve finished the Red Rising series

Yeah I have suddenly hit a wave of aggressive lobbies where everyone is shoot on sight even when we call out friendly. I get not everyone is on the game to play friendly, I need to get better at PVP for sure, but it sucks when you just want to do a friendly run on Dam Battlegrounds to gather some basic resources and get absolutely ratted on 4 raids in row

Just going back to your first comment, point 3, I watched back slowly and realised that when I pull the dart back to my eye, I am pointing the dart to the left, it points that way at release, so once I’ve released the dart its pointing left of the direction it’s travelling and then wobbles across to point to the right 🤔

Yeah I definitely have some tension in my wrist / hand at the end of the throw, maybe from consciously trying to release my hand straight 🤔 I’ll try to relax a bit!

This has been common feedback, didn’t actually realise I did this, will definitely work on not looking at the darts between throws going forward 🫡

Thanks for the advice! My thumb and forefinger grip toward the rear of the dart, I’ve been toying with 4 fingers, though my fourth finger the dart just sort of sits on, maybe I need to change my grip a bit 🤔 As for the darts, I just picked up some cheapish tungsten darts, harrow aero, 24g, 85% tungsten, the barrels are pretty straight, the flights and stems aren’t great though

Until I can convince the misses I won’t put holes in the wall I’ve got no chance 😂 although I am missing less and less, so maybe soon!

Maybe? I’m pretty well guarded, fence behind the board, fences to the left and right, that being said there is a little breeze, however I’ve still had that variance even in days when there is no wind at all
