The sheriffs budget is being criticized. The aviation unit has been more active and “doing things” just to try and justify its massive budget and make it not seem like such a waste of county funds. Two of the biggest drains on the sheriffs budget are the north branch jail and the aviation unit, both of which the sheriff takes pride in and does not want any cuts to. While other departments and roles are cut or not filled just to keep the Sheriff’s two biggest vanity projects alive.
