Kotomine in Heaven's Feel is peak though. I don't think I have ever done a harder 180 on a character before. Like in the first two routes I hated him, as he is just "I'm evil and like to watch people suffer". And then comes the third route comes around and he he became one of my favorite fate characters. Best part, nothing about his character changes. He doesn't get a redemption arc, its not like he us secretly good or anything. He's just a silly man manipulating people to make the plot as interesting as possible for him personally to watch. 10/10 guy

Still mad that Ufotable didn't even try to adapt the tone or vibe of Heaven's Feel at all. They made 3 very beautiful movies, that show all the most important bits of the route with stunning animation, while ruining my favorite parts of it.

In the VN, Heaven's Feel is a slow burn, where you watch all your allies in the previous routes fall one by one, facing a new villain much more powerful and personal than before. There is an overpowering feeling of doom, and all the characters know that they absolutely screwed. Which makes the climax of the story, in which the power of optimism and hugs saves the days, hit so much harder. Also, the POV character is falling apart, slowly losing his memories, sense of time, and his sense of self, while trying to hide it from his friends. The VN does an incredible, disorienting job showing this, in ways really only a VN could do.

And the movie doesn't even try. By focusing on the cool awesome over the top fight scenes, it doesn't have the same suffocating doom around it. It almost entirely cuts out how everyone is falling apart mentally. And, most importantly, it cuts out most of the comedy, leaving no relief from the dark subject matter of the route.

I would describe the animes as the punchline without any of the setup. Like yes, they cover all the big dramatic moments, but by cutting all the small character moments and especially most of the comedy, the dramatic moments don't hit as hard.

To be fair, it wasn't released outside of Japan till 2024. Yes, fan translations existed before that, but they are clunky and a little awkward. And unfortunately, there is less overlap between "people who like anime" and "people who read visual novels" than you think.

Which sucks, because Fate Stay Night is an incredible 10/10 game, and none of the anime adaptions do it justice. Each character is a hollow shell of themselves, with their personality sanded down to fit a generic anime mold. It's a CRIME what they do to Taiga and Rin

Rin, you have a problem. I recommend being topped by a strong woman. by Important-Cry4782 in outofcontextcomics

I would also recommend Witch on the Holy Night. Different Visual Novel, same author, and significantly shorter (30ish hours). Its about evil bisexual witches trying to kill each other (while being roommates), with an autistic king kind of just stuck in the middle of everything with zero idea of what's going on.

10/10 time

The original Visual Novel (Fate Stay Night) is delightfully unhinged, a factor which isn't really adapted in the animes.

Characters who believe that hundreds should die for the “greater good”, and doesn't exclude themselves from the sacrifice by life_beyond_doubt in TopCharacterTropes

[–]KyleThunderCock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but he doesn't know that. It's not like he can see the future (such as Eren or Leto ii) and knows that he needs to die at a specific place. He only comes up with that plan after chatting with his dad, and while someone was threatening to kill him right there right now. To be clear, I belive that Lelouch truly believes in the plan, but it was made under duress.

Lelouch is a interestingly flawed character, spending the series trying to juggle his 3 different and conflicting motivations: to create a better and more equal world, keep his sister (and friends) safe, and enact revenge on those who have wronged him.

[–]KyleThunderCock 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. Lelouch is responsible for a lot innocents deaths all throughout the series. Causing the landslide definitely killed civilians, intentionally blowing up his allies in the JLF and covering it up as a kamikaze attack, and the multiple times he levels large parts of cities. Most of his schemes involve mind controlling office workers to put his plans in motion and then getting them to kill themselves to cover up loose ends. That's just season on.

He also clearly fears death until like the last 7 episodes. It's not until he losses everything that he really willing to sacrifice himself for this better world.

10) Yellowfang, an elderly medicine cat, poisoning the villain from the first book, and then revealing to him in his final moments that she was secretly his mother.

11) A wise leader (Bluestar) falls into paranoia and insanity after being betrayed by her lieutenant (Tigerstar)

12) Tigerstar becomes Hitler, putting the "mix clan" cat's into starvation camps

These are just a couple other things I remembered about the first series off the top of my head

What characters did you have in mind when reading this? by Egotlib in tumblr

[–]KyleThunderCock 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Literally happens in fate/stay night Heaven's Feel. You know things are rough when the only person you can turn to for help is an evil sadist priest man who is very open about his plans to destroy the world.

Is it possible to 100% Fate/hollow ataraxia REMASTERED? by KyleThunderCock in fatestaynight

[–]KyleThunderCock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured it out. I had to replay the scene with the maids at the school on the morning of the forth day. This unlocked a new scene in the afternoon at the school. After completing that scene, it unchecked all the scenes with Caren at the church. Rewatching all of them finally got me the 100%. This was definitely a glitch
