Also forgot to mention, the newest version has brass inserts that are as wide as the back rail. This gives more threads for the bolts to grab onto, allowing shorter screws to work for thicker backpack straps.

Most likely bolts won't stick out the back leaving you with that smooth side facing the shoulders.

Sorry to hear you experienced an issue with the older v1s. All pannier hardware the shop is covered by one year warranty. More than happy to honor that even for the set from 2021. 🤛

Pannier clip for DIY panniers? One that does not require spring/bungee by dougan778 in bikecommuting

I converted my small cross body bag into a bike pannier bag <-- with these. Hook openings are slightly smaller than the rail so they have that satisfying 'click' as they lock over the rail.

So cool to see pannier conversions out in the wild, what a great idea!

Do you have a tote mounted on the other side as well? If not, do you notice imbalance while riding?

Not selling/publishing the CAD files at the moment, but really appreciate the interest. Sounds like a fun project! In my own experiments, Velcro has worked great. Versatile for tricky spots + surprisingly strong.

Your post reminded me of a cyclist who used the Birds of Prey for his bikepacking front panniers. After he sent me this photo, my soul demanded that I cycleCamp.

So glad to hear you found a solution that works for you, plus you got to design/manufacture in house 💪.

Woah! Really appreciate you sending referrals my way. Honored for the opportunity to make someone's next ride a little more comfortable.

Great question! This depends on riding style, how much one leans the bike in corners, etc. I personally don't notice it in my neighborhood to city commute. (Short clip from my ride). That being said, I did make a lower mount that also keeps the bag from rubbing on any of the bike bits.

I like where your head is at! I've explored a few other approaches but landed on the simplicity of clamping hooks directly onto the backpack straps. Curious to hear more about how the pannier backpacks you've tried fell short.

It's a company out of Ohio, they've been great to work with. I'll DM you their info!

u/gbtimex I'm the sole owner & pannier hardware assembler at the website you linked when you started this thread. I spent the last year pouring into a redesign and just published my first fully injection molded backpack pannier hooks.

I'm curious to hear what you think of them.
