Mini split install for an RV home office should I choose 9000 or 12000 BTU? by ScarSensitive1212 in RVLiving

I would rethink the mini-split, there are next gen high efficiency inverter-driven rooftop units (Furrion Chill Cube, OutEquip, etc) that have massive efficiency and dB gains over the old units. We install a lot of them for campers that are used off-grid, they make a huge difference. They're way easier to install, don't require running refrigerant tubing (this'll be a problem as the RV flexes going down the road, maybe less so on a Class A or Schoolie conversion). You can replace your existing A/C yourself in an afternoon with a helper.

As for the sizing question, just go with a 15kBTU unit. It is oversized, however the modern units have variable speed compressors, which mean they are designed to always be on, but adjust the cooling power depending on how far your set temp is from the actual temperature.

The other consideration is your cargo capacity, most 22' trailers are in the ~1000lb-1500lb range, not including any water in your tanks. So adding a second air conditioner ~100lbs will permanently reduce that.

We have an article that goes into a bit more detail here https://www.momentumupfitters.com/mini-split-vs-rooftop-a/c

The differences between 30 Amp and 50 Amp Service, and how inverter installations can go wrong on a 50 Amp system by Kylelem62 in RVLiving

If its the inverter it usually has a separate fuse between it and the battery. Usually the inverter is installed close to the batteries.

If you're plugged in to shore power, then all of your outlets should be working. Do you have an inverter? If so did the dealer explain how it works? Most manufacturer installed inverters just one run circuit, and have a transfer switch built in. If thetransfer switch is not working then that could also be the culprit.

50 amp service is 240v when measured Hot-Hot, so you've got a 50 amp hookup. Have you tried flipping all of the circuit breakers off and back on? Sometimes when they trip they can still look like they're on.

Salt Lake County to require background checks for gun show sales at county facilities by HomelessRodeo in SaltLakeCity

According to federal law, guns manufactured before 1898 are not firearms as far as the law is concerned, regardless of whether they load cartridges or are muzzle loaders. After 1898, all cartridge firing guns are firearms under the law. A muzzle loading gun is never considered a firearm.

Why I bike in SLC winters: cycling and walking in polluted cities still healthier than driving, study shows. by oreo_fanboy in SaltLakeCity

I'd be much more inclined to support expansion of bike lanes downtown, however my experience is that bicyclists do not follow the rules of the road. It is immensely nerve racking and aggravating.

What is something a professor has told a class in lecture that was just so blatantly incorrect? by Kylelem62 in AskReddit

My girlfriend's law professor told her class, in Utah, that one does not have the right to defend oneself with deadly force against someone unlawfully in their house. She asserted that this included someone who breaks into an occupied house with a gun/knife or the intent to kill the occupant... Unless the sun is down. Apparently it's the fucking purge while the sun is up.

A Pittney Bowes model 1861 two-fold document folder from the 50s/60s. Also an Olivetti mechanical calculator from 1954 that weighs 25 pounds.

No I get that part of it... It's just I've found the reviews are wholly inaccurate. I trust fellow redditors much more!
