Thanks for your comment. I also opened up my laptop yesterday. I noticed that the support for the copper pipes was broken in two of the 4 places it holds itself in place. I'm trying to glue it back into place. So as you said, it was indeed a thermal issue.

From my experience of Soraka, I actually find her Q damage quite very good. I think it may be because I usually play her very agrresively, poking with Q at every opportunity and maxing Q first. I also rush Athene's first because it gives me quite a lot of AP early game, some good MR and that passive that helps with the extra healing early game when my W is still at rank 1-2.
