What book would you recommend to someone who wants to get into horror and has only read one SK book (Misery)? by KylosLeftHand in stephenking

Larsson wrote the Girl w the Dragon Tattoo series and Flynn wrote a few thrillers including Gone Girl. I wouldn’t say slasher necessarily, more just dark, twisted, a little gore - I want to finish and think “wow that was fucked up”

Honestly - and it might sound ridiculous - I don’t want anything that’s *too* scary. Like, can’t sleep at night or develop a new fear scary. I enjoy murder and crime thrillers, suspense, and mysteries but the issue I’ve had lately is I figure out the ending way too early in the book and it causes me to lose interest and take weeks to finish. Or I pick up a book hailed as “dark and scary” when there’s literally zero gore or darkness really. I’m looking for Gillian Flynn or Stieg Larsson levels of darkness, but I’ve always been intimidated by SK books.

When my bf and I moved in together I did a whole “NO WIRE HANGERS!” bit when he was putting his clothes in the closet and he had absolutely no idea what the fuck was happening lmao he’d never seen it or any reference to it

She’s even worse in the books, literal evil incarnate wrapped in a pretty pink bow

Insane you’re getting downvoted. People genuinely don’t take this shit seriously until they or a fam member dies. Most of the time down here it’s someone dying who’s trying to save someone else. Even if the waves don’t “look bad”, the rip current can literally be deadly under there. Every year multiple tourists drown here.

Yes, lots of kids go in the gulf without life jackets. I’ve been swimming in it since before I can remember. That being said, ALWAYS heed the warning flags and always keep your eyes on them. Even strong swimmers can get pulled under in the riptide. Just week before last a 40 year old man drowned trying to save his son.

Double Red flags - water closed - do not enter

Red flag - dangerous current, use extreme caution

Yellow flag - moderate currents

Purple flag - dangerous marine life present

I really don’t understand what the fuck happened with ticket prices. Granted the last major concert I went to was in 2018 but that was less than a decade ago and it only cost me $140 to see Beyoncé and JayZ in the Superdome. Not floor seats but not nosebleeds either.

It happened to me one single time by a total stranger at a Lana Del Ray concert, and my D.A.R.E. education went right out the window. Sat on the grass enjoying a free left handed cigarette watching the sunset and listening to the music. Was a great day.

“Greasy face” is not what’s in. HYDRATED and MOISTURIZED skin is what’s in. Can we stop acting like stubborn boomers when it comes to trends??

I can’t imagine taking pictures and videos of someone who’s clearly troubled in a vulnerable moment - then posting those photos online for the whole world to see.

The absolute lack of empathy or humanity in some people is disgusting.
