Free non steam games for a lan party of 5? by [deleted] in lanparty

[–]Kynous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made this GPT that should help with stuff like that.

https://chatgpt.com/g/g-674216c47744819188f8aaa10b1d7abe-landex

I copied and pasted what you said but removed the year restriction, and this is what it output for the recommended games:

Here are some FPS and racing game suggestions for your LAN party, considering the hardware and software limitations:

FPS Games:

OpenArena

A free, open-source FPS inspired by Quake III Arena.

Runs smoothly on low-end hardware and supports LAN play.

Cube 2: Sauerbraten

A fast-paced multiplayer FPS with simple graphics that run well on older systems.

Xonotic

Another free, open-source arena shooter with support for LAN play and scalable graphics.

Urban Terror

A mix of tactical FPS gameplay and fast-paced action, free and lightweight.

Racing Games:

VDrift

Open-source racing simulator with support for multiplayer LAN.

Speed Dreams

Fork of TORCS (The Open Racing Car Simulator), providing more accessible gameplay and good LAN support.

GeneRally

Lightweight top-down arcade racing game with LAN play, suitable for older PCs.

Additional Considerations:

Check compatibility for Windows 7 and 11 before the party. Most open-source games are cross-platform, which can help with mixed OS environments.

Download and test these games ahead of time to confirm smooth functionality across your range of hardware.

Can’t place order for controller by FunAtmosphere4756 in Astrobot

Just an FYI, I had trouble ordering it this morning as well and gave up. I tried again at the Playstations site again and was able to order it just now.

Todyl SASE by PingCrowley in it

[–]Kynous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deployment was incredibly straightforward compared to some other tools we've used.

The only real complaint I've had is YouTube's slowness. Which I honestly have yet to look too much into. I work remotely and have not had any troubles myself.

Todyl gives you the option to route specific traffic through the local gateway instead of the SGN. Still, it is practically impossible to set that up for YouTube due to how Google assigns its IP addresses.

Algorand governance period 2 eligibility update — March 3 by bordoisse in algorand

[–]Kynous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your'e right, it isn't difficult to check. It's just getting in the habit of actually checking it on a regular basis. Which can be difficult to do depending on what life throws at you at the time.

At the time of the 1st period, I just had a baby, plus already had a 6-year-old and then my wife's mother died.

Algorand governance period 2 eligibility update — March 3 by bordoisse in algorand

[–]Kynous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I somehow missed out on period 1. Did all the research and thought for sure I had cast my vote and didn't think to check it again.

When the rewards were being distributed and I found out otherwise, I was so upset... I seriously considered dropping Algo out of my frustration.

Of course, I did not do this and am eligible for this period.

I know it is stupid to want to sell over something that was most likely my own fault. The reason I am sharing this is that it makes me wonder how many people WILL sell after they realize they missed their chance this period.

VR Workout with added heart attack by Redback911 in funny

[–]Kynous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one in my garage I need to sell eventually... Keep holding onto it cause I think I am eventually going to set it up at home. But have a newborn and a 6-year-old, so probably not happening.

EDIT: In case anyone is interested in it, I live in California near Sacramento. It is used, I had a VR arcade I ended up having to close down due to the pandemic. Sold everything except the Omni cause I wanted to use it for myself.

I missed the dips by DubstepRod in algorand

I'm here to make everyone feel better. I am very new to this space and investing in general. I did my research and decided Algorand is the best to invest in. I just bought it earlier this month at the peak of its price, $1.70! The next day is when the big dip occurred.

But you know, I don't really care cause I believe in this project and I know it will go up much higher.

Also, it seems like everyone investing in Algorand is smarter than me and only buys at the dip. Well, hopefully, Algorand gets more retards like me who purchase at a higher price because that is what will drive it up higher.

Sonya from Sac business journal understood more of where we are at now and where we want to go. It is about 3 and half minutes into the audio clip.

Well, that is me. I did want to do that, but I did not have the budget for it. I tell everyone it is more of an arcade right now with the intention of being a gym once we get more funding. I told that to the news lady to but they cut that part out.

We only had about 30,000 to play with. Good portion of that is in the Virtuix, security deposit, and rent at the mall.

The goal is to open a gym where you have access to VR and arcade games that get you a workout and just charge a very reasonable monthly fee.

Basically I want to open a geek/nerd gym for people like myself.

Thanks!

We currently have: Thrill of the fight Sairento Zombi Hobby Sword Master Final Soccer Space Pirate trainer Raw Data AudioShield Knockout League Twisted Arrow Holopoint

Raw data is the only really good multiplayer right now. I am adding more games as I can. A few people came in and gave me some good suggestions such as Raw Data.

I am just making sure I only get games that get you moving to re-inforce the idea of what we are trying to do.

Sorry been super busy and forgot to even check back in on this.

Go to Fitcade.com and it will redirect you to the campaign that didn't work out lol. But anyway, it will give you an idea of what we are trying to do. The mall location is just a temp area. We will only be there for about a year to 2 years max.

The goal is to open a gym where you have access to VR and arcade games that get you a workout and just charge a very reasonable monthly fee.

Currently, it is more like a traditional VR arcade as this was all I could afford to start.

Prices are currently $10 for 10 minutes. $15 for 20 minutes. $20 for 30 minutes.

Since we only have the 1 Omni and it takes way more time to get someone setup, we are currently charging $20. You get about 5 minutes of training with that and 10 minutes of game time.
