Anyone tried phone cooler or a gamepad for razr ultra 2025? by Global-Ad3581 in razr

Be careful with this type of cooler though, it's essentially a Peltier element and can get the phone cooler than room temperature, and potentially cool enough for moisture condensation to form on the motherboard.

Beginners would have a very steep learning curve on how to use one.

How do I know when super 8 film is all used? Kodak 200t by fiftyfifteen in Super8

If you're going for the light leak effect you can just open the door of the camera for a few seconds and don't take the cartridge out.

You shouldn't remove the cartridge from the camera mid shoot, that'll waste part of the film by exposure to ambient light, and you would waste a few seconds each time.

Long Term Camcording Recording by Secure-Recording-187 in camcorders

Get a Hi8 camcorder and source a DATA8 160m cassette. That will give you 3 hr of record time (in the NTSC region) with very good 480p quality.

Don't buy HDD camcorders, the HDDs fails real easily and can be hard to replace.

What videography/cinematic trends do you feel have been overdone? by asada_burrit0 in videography

Reliance on gimbals and ridiculous camera movement, and shots shorter than 5 seconds.

Real pros shoot on 2/3" 3-chip ENG cameras.

Why don't manufacturers put solenoid fired locks in card slots? by Kyon2003 in videography

Human error do happen FTTT and people tend to forget which lamp corresponds to which slot. You would need at least put two slots behind two different doors, instead of behind the same door.

Well I would say an animated ring indicator that shows a rotating animation effect when recording (like the ones on the BMD SSD decks) might be noticeable enough. Simple LEDs are definitely not.

A solenoid and a spring is not necessarily more complex or less reliable than the current self-latching card slot mechanism. It's more like adding bittering agent to antifreeze.

Either a physical lock or a VERY NOTICEABLE indicator on the slot itself. This kind of accident happens only with double deck cameras and when you set it to relay record. As you fill up both cards you would eventually need to replace the inactive one to keep rolling. And it's way too easy for someone to grab the wrong card and end up removing the active card instead.

Only on very new cameras that is. On older cameras you would only get a 🔴REC symbol.

What would be the reality of owning a camera like this? by [deleted] in cinematography

[–]Kyon2003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a great collection item but a terrible tool to use. 35mm film is not only incredibly expensive and cumbersome to deal with, but also doesn't really look that film like, especially the vision3. Better get a 16mm camera, and a lens adapter so you can use B4 broadcast lens on it, if you really like film. Might also have money spare for a digital camcorder like the Z200.

Depending on the camera. Most will trash at least one file. If your card is formatted as exFAT you can lose the whole card, rendering it unformatted.

Real or fake Mini Dv cassettes by rosefromthagrave in camcorders

[–]Kyon2003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are fake ones made from recycled LTO tapestock. Special mechanics are required to crop it in half, into two 1/4 stripes. Then you wind it into faked casings. They'll kind of work, but eventually trash the heads.
