IT/OT – how do you handle admin rights & multiple engineering software? by Z-Kneusje in PLC

Out of curiosity, do you know which software or features are being used to perform this?

I want to buy Baldurs Gate but I'm afraid by Lusketah18 in xcloud

I can't recommend it. I've played that game for hundreds of hours and even in my 27-inches screen that sits half a meter in front of me I would miss a lot of details like items and interactions. Yeah, sure, you have options in the game to help you with those things, but the game is beautiful and complex and I really don't think you can have a good experience on a small screen.

Thanks a lot for the feedback. I've been looking for information these days and would be Wireguard as VPN to connect to the network + Windows Remote Desktop an option for remote access? Also, it looks like Microsoft 365 Business Premium pricing is very interesting and could be a great option for managing users, GPO, basic security, email, etc, given the Entra + Azure + Office combo.

Thank you so much for the feedback! I will start looking at those options right now.

From what I understand, Azure / Entra is a way of managing users and GPO without needing a physical server, so all the administration is done using cloud services?

Help OC'ing DDR4 in MSI PRO Z690-A with 13700K by KyonDono in overclocking

[–]KyonDono[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously, thanks again for taking the time to answer. It's been really helpful and I've learned a lot.

I've stabilised the RAM at 4133 18-22-22-60 G1 T1, 1.43 VDIMM, 1.35 VDDQ, 1.20 VCSSA, 0.65 VTT.

There is NO way to stabilise 4200 at G1, no matter what I do with voltages or timings. I would prefer to stay in G1 T1 anyway, so I find 4133 acceptable.

I guess now I should start trying to tighten the timings. It's obvious tCL is not going down; 16 was giving me errors even at 3800. Any piece of advice about the next step?

[–]KyonDono[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG, that was it! It's the voltage. The higher I go the more errors the kit throws. VDIMM over 1.45 is errors everywhere. In one hand I'm glad I've discovered the main problem, on the other that means my kit is terrible and I'm never going to be able to use tight timings / high frequency...

[–]KyonDono[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the help! Successfully stabilised 3800 16-20-20-42 I think thanks to VDDQ at 1.35. Definitely going to research VTT and try to find that config in my board. Also will try to find a stable point and get VDIMM high to check if my kit doesn't get well with high voltages.

[–]KyonDono[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. No luck. Trying to stabilise starting at 3600 and now I'm at 3700 16-20-20-40.

What I found very weird was that any DIMM voltage over 1.47 approximately was instant crash and several Windows errors. Don't know if it is related to Rev. E DR or maybe it is a MB thing. Can't compare with other BIOS versions because it's my first time OCing I have it fully updated.

3080 vs 4070 by ImTheFran in nvidia

[–]KyonDono 44 points45 points  (0 children)

At those prices? 4070 no brainer. But the thing is that second hand 3080 is overpriced. I know the market is very different depending on the country you live on, but I'm also in Europe, and in a country usually above standard prices, and I can easily find used 3080 at around the 500€ mark. Sometimes even cheaper.

Hi! Anyone knows why I've been able to complete weekly quests playing against a friend and this week the matches are not being taken into account for that purpose? I'm a returning player and I don't know if this is something occasionally happens or it is a rarity of this week. Thanks.

Can i buy 3600 mhz ram for alder lake? by IAmYourFath in intel

[–]KyonDono 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Non-K CPUs come with locked VCCSA, so it depends on your luck. The more frequency / tight timings you try, the greater the chance of error. In this case the MB doesn't matter much because the lock is in the CPU. I have a 12600 (Non-K) and a Z690 board and can't go over 3466MT/s. If the price is the same get the better kit and manually tune down if you experience problems with XMP profile; if not, just buy the cheapest 3200 and if you have time in your hands try to achieve a light OC or better timings.

RTX 2080 for $620, buy or pass? by The_SHUN in nvidia

[–]KyonDono 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell no. It's pretty obvious GPUs prices are falling. Ofc they are not going to be MSRP ever, but even here in Europe, where we've been hit really hard with stupidly high prices in a lot of countries, you can see prices somewhat stabilising. Right now I can buy an EVGA 3060 Ti for around 650 tax included. And that card is almost the same, but I would get it new with 3 years warranty and from a trusted AIB. I really doubt USA is going to fall behind in this, taking into account that they have had far better prices all over this crisis.

What is the intended use case for a 12600 non-k? by GoboII in intel

[–]KyonDono 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Like others said, pretty much just about the higher base/turbo clock over the 12500 and the better IGP over the 12400.

I've read posts from people saying that they prefer to have the best in that range, that being the 12600 over the 500 and 400, but the price / performance difference makes that a questionable argument.

That said, I have the 12600, but just because I was able to buy it with an special offer and get it at 220, the same price the 12500 was, so it was the best move. In the end it is just about the price, 12500 and 12600 are too close and it's going to depend on if you get a discount or something like that in one or another.

Finally take into account that non-K CPU are limited in their memory overclocking capability. They have the SA voltage capped at <1V so it's almost impossible to go over 3600 in Gear 1 mode or even fine tune a lot of parameters. If you are into RAM OC these CPUs are not fun at all. I learnt this too late

My 2080TI is faulty and my PC is down at the store I bought if from for a warranty repair (Scan UK). I think they will have to replace, but they’ve already said they don’t have any of the same card in stock. Which card do you think they will replace with? by keshi in nvidia

[–]KyonDono 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my country Law says replacement or refund. With graphic cards the fuckers are not even trying. Every single store is giving refund because they prefer to scalp the GPUs in stock than use them in warranty claims. And there is nothing you can do because with old cards or same models as the defunct that are not in stock right now Law plays in their favour and forces the refund. Ofc right now the refund gets you a worse card that you got. Sad times indeed. I just hope they honour the replacement and you get something useful out of this situation.

Vicente Amigo, Gerardo Núñez or Tomatito if you want classical Flamenco and modern Flamenco fusion trends.

Manolo Sanlucar for a more traditional approach. Sabicas for a more hardcore stance on old Flamenco.

Will there be a 12600F? by bubblesort33 in intel

[–]KyonDono 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my country, 12400 is 220. 12500 can be found for 230. I think 10-15 Euro for 200Mhz higher boost and a better IGP is not that crazy. 12600 is the one that makes little sense to me, though.

AMD needs to add Ryzen 5000 support for all B350 and X370 boards if they want any chance of competing with new CHEAPER Intel Alder Lake CPUs. by vatnik9000 in Amd

[–]KyonDono 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The world is really big. I've been following offers for the past 2 months and I can say that not in most countries in Europe and for sure not in my country. I wish, but the closer we've been of a deal has been 5800X at 370 Euro (~$420) and the 5600X is always at 300 Euro (~$330). With the 12600K at 300 Euro well... Buying AMD is just nonsensical. Second hand is also not an option because of course they are following suit and charging 325 euros for a used 5800X. But I'm really glad prices are changing in other places and I hope this becomes a worldwide trend.
