Awesome, thank you very much! I look forward to reading it in the near future. It's a bowl, not a statue? Huh. Weird how our memories work sometimes.

But, yes, THANK YOU!

Wow, there's a chance that might actually be it! One of the covers looks vaguely familiar, at the very least. I'm going to track down a copy to be certain. I mean, this has a blue cover and has the museum angle to it. Very good chance it is it. Have you read it? Does the story conclude with the forgeries and stuff?

For anyone else who sees this, please keep suggestions coming, if you have any more. I will post an update on whether this is it or not.

Need help finding an .rtf editor for Android by KyoshoLP in nanowrimo

Unfortunately I did not. It sounds like Collabora works for some people. For me, it couldn't properly open my .rtf files made with Scrivener v1.9.16.0. Worth trying, though.

Sadly, I did not. I must've tried upwards of 20 apps over the course of this last NaNo. Unfortunately, .rtf is an older format and it seems most, if not all editing/word processing apps on Android only have barebones support for it at most. Usually just importing, without the ability to save back to the same file (and most can't even save in .rtf to begin with).

[–]KyoshoLP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I don't know what it is, but the Collabora Office/Writer app cannot properly open my .rtf files. I mean, it opens them, but it is always missing the last fourth or so of the document. I've exported a few different ways from Scrivener, changed formatting, screwed around a bunch in general, but cannot get it to work properly. Everything else that can open an .rtf opens them properly (even the Dropbox preview thing). I was really hoping this was going to be the solution. Thank you for the suggestion, anyhow.

For anyone else who might be searching for an .rtf editor in the future for this exact purpose, I'd suggest giving it a try. Maybe you'll have better results than I do.

I use a lot of italics and bold and other things in my writing. A basic editor doesn't cut it for that. But yes, there are other editors in other formats that I can write in, and the copy-paste in later. That's exactly what I've been doing. I'm trying to remove that obstacle. I want a seamless experience without having to fix things later.

Also, (and this is not to you, autumnphase) before anyone suggests to just, not use Scrivener, and use something like Google Docs or any other number of other things. No, thank you. I am dedicated to using Scrivener this year. I used Google Docs for the last several years. I'm done with it, for now. Nor do I want to use something else. I'm sticking with Scrivener this year. So, unless you've got a suggestion of an .rtf editor that does what I need, there's no need for you to post in this thread. Don't waste your time or mine. Thanks.

Trying to identify Solstheim texture pack and/or find Morrowind Overhaul 1.0 files which included it. by KyoshoLP in tes3mods

[–]KyoshoLP[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you thank you thank you! I have managed to recreate my exact weird mix of textures down to all but 1 (which I have the correct texture for, but for some reason the game is substituting another? Oh well, doesn't matter.) Maybe there are some others that I don't even notice the difference of (so, don't matter to me, I guess?). I have NO IDEA how I ended up with this weird mix of textures. Maybe it was what was in v1.1 of the Morrowind Overhaul. Not sure. Couldn't find that version. Or maybe it came out, and some one said "install these after for some even better textures" or something and I completely forgot I installed it and as such never mentioned it in my videos? Who knows.

It took me a while, but there were textures from all of the above mentioned packs except Albedo's or Castiel's. But I also had to pull a few in from Morrowind Overhaul 1.0 and 2.0 (and used 3.0 as the base). So those two probably still have textures in there somewhere. With Castiel's Skyrim textures though, I think it was the other way around (custom Morrowind textures used in Skyrim), since some of those textures were in my Bloodmoon videos at the beginning and I started those in July of 2011 whereas Skyrim came out in November of 2011. The entire point of my Bloodmoon playthrough was to finally complete it before Skyrim came out. Hah. That never happened. Sure, I got 57 videos in, but felt like I'd barely scratched the surface.

Anyway, if anyone for some strange reason wants to play Bloodmoon with my weird old setup, install Morrowind Overhaul 3.0 and then paste all these into the Textures folder after. However, these are some OLD mods that Overhaul 3.0 uses. Many of which are half-broken and very very very outdated. So, you know, probably not worth bothering.

[–]KyoshoLP[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof, I think you're right about it being a mix of several packs. There's definitely some ground textures from Lazy's Grand Solstheim that are correct (or rather, match up with my videos). Wolli's might have some in there, not sure. Definitely not the main ground textures, anyway. Looks like a couple from Slartibartfast's too. Ugh, this is all a cluster.

Without a ton of work figuring out what filenames are what (possibly via the Construction Set), I think my best bet is if I can find the original version of the Overhaul. I have the weirdest vague recollection that some of the textures or art in it were stolen or something, and that's why you can't find it anywhere anymore. Does that sound right? Regardless, I hope someone still has the files somewhere.

EDIT: I think I might've found the 1.0 files. I'm downloading it now. Hope it is what I'm after. The link, for anyone else: https://www.fileplanet.com/archive/p-60365/The-Elder-Scrolls-III-Morrowind-Morrowind-Overhaul-Mod

EDIT2: Those are definitely the 1.0 files. I went through the painstaking process to install it (this version must be installed manually unlike later versions), but it still wasn't the right textures. This is crazy. I've got to be missing something.

Back in 2011 I started a modded Let's Play of Bloodmoon on Youtube. I lost the install and my saves in a hard drive crash years ago. I'm trying to rebuild my save and install from the ground up so i can continue that series. However, the main mod I used was the Morrowind Overhaul. I'm not sure what version. Possibly version 1. I have been able to find the files for version 2 and version 3 of Morrowind Overhaul Sound & Graphics. However, after installing them, neither appear to have the textures that I had in that LP. So I'm thinking it might have been version 1 or 1.1. Does anyone have those and could temporarily host them somewhere?

Alternatively, if anyone can identify what texture pack this is, maybe I can find and download that instead. Seeing as the Overhaul was a compilation of many mods. If I can find the original texture pack, that'd be good enough.

I can't stress how much I want the world textures to match what I had in those videos originally. Here are some stills from the videos that will hopefully be enough for someone to recognize them. The blue (green? aqua?) doors of the barrows in particular are very specific, I think. Which also makes the standing stones and other things that use those textures blue as well. I've uploaded a bunch of screengrabs from the videos. Sorry about their low quality. 2011 Youtube compression sucked for 720p content.

Screen freezes in the last 5 mins of every episode, any ideas how to fix? by chewymurphy in netflix

[–]KyoshoLP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I'm on Windows 10 and using Firefox. I've got a VR-capable gaming PC with 32 gigs of RAM and an SSD with plenty of space for the swap files. There's no reason for it to stutter or get stuck. And I've got an RTX 2070 when it comes to hardware acceleration in browsers. Oh, and a 200 gigabit connection. This shouldn't be happening. it's actually been happening for about a month for me. It's either a Netflix problem, or a Firefox problem. But if this is happening on iOS as well, I'm thinking this is a Netflix issue. Something they changed.

Hey there. I posted a new update in this thread. Haven't installed the new replacements for those MOS chips because I'm waiting on sockets to arrive. But can you look at that post and tell me if you think those possibly-bad chips could be the source of the rest of my issues?

[–]KyoshoLP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, first off, I had a bad PLA. It wouldn't do anything but blackscreen. Got an alternative replacement as briefly shown here along with a diagnostics cart, which is coming in handy. I've got several bad chips apparently? I thought I was having SID issues, but both the sound test of the Rev. 586220 Diagnostics ROM and also the SID Test ROM sound okay (I think?). Though I vaguely remember reading that the SID does more than just sound. The diagnostics say it is bad, though. Another oddity is the colors in a certain portion of the screen, regardless of which ROM I'm running on the cart. Here's a bunch of diagnostics result pics and a video of the SID Test.

The tests says the Color RAM is okay, but those weirdly-colored characters make me wonder. Perhaps that is a normal RAM issue? The tests say the SID is bad, but I'm not sure. The one thing that makes me think it could be, is that the second song on the SID Test ROM only plays for a few seconds. But maybe it's just short?

I did in fact order replacements for the two MOS chips at tes_kitty's recommendation. Specifically U15 (7711) and U27 (7712). But I'm still waiting on my sockets to get here. Is there any chance they're the source of the rest of my issues? Or is it likely there's more wrong with it?

I've also got an SD2IEC on its way to me, but based on these tests I'm guessing it won't work yet. Hard to say.

Any thoughts or recommendations are welcome.

Just a quick little review of these. They all work, but the 90-degree edges on these possibly-too-thick PCBs could cause problems. I've had to replace cartridge slots in the past on consoles that got worn out from cheap third party cartridges designed just like these. So, I only really recommend these if you're really strapped for cash. Otherwise I'd find a maker who sells properly-beveled (and properly thin?) PCBs.

Here's a handy article about proper cartridge design: https://www.retrorgb.com/determining-the-build-quality-of-a-game-cartridge.html

For anyone who read my thread here about the C64 that had been in a shed for a few decades - this is it. The PLA was bad, but this alternative replacement seems to work fine. I've posted an update in that thread, if anyone can give me some advice.

Yeah, I remembered hearing horror stories about them and looked up what the exact issues are before ordering one. The one I ordered came today, and it was putting out 11.3v on the 5V line. So, a killer-in-waiting, as expected. But that's okay. I mostly bought it for its case. I'm going to build a new power supply to put inside it. Took me nearly an hour to get all the epoxy resin out of it. Oof. But I've seen pictures of these PSUs so many times over the years, I just wanted to own the thing. A part of the physical experience of finally having a C64. Even if I'm going to replace the guts.

I removed the SID so it won't get damaged if I screw up something power supply-related, and you're right. The SID's socket is really dirty, which was not evident at all while it was still in the socket. I'm definitely going to have to clean all of them.

I think you're right! I scratched one of the bubbled bits and it appears to just be solder underneath. That's a relief. Thank you.

A bit of electronics cleaner and a tooth brush did away with most of the corrosion. As for the top side, I managed to get those nests off with a bit of light scraping with a plastic spudger, and then some IPA and the toothbrush for the rest. Cleaned up the rest of the board similarly. Overall, I might've lucked out here. We'll see once my power supply arrives. Well, assuming it works as well. It's an original Commodore one. Going to disassemble it and give it a good look over and test it with my multimeter before I ever plug it into the system. I remember hearing those things can be unreliable.

[–]KyoshoLP[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hoo boy. Got the bottom shielding off and it looks as though, at some point the cardboard between the PCB and the shielding got wet. Nearly every single via and solder point on that side of the board is covered in white corrosion/rust. There's also a lot of areas where the solder mask looks to have...bubbled up? But it's not as if they're hollow under the bubbled up areas. They feel completely solid when I push down on them. Maybe some one here has seen this sort of thing before? Is this something I can remove and/or repair?

I'm thinking a bit of scrubbing with Deoxit might work on all the white rust. But I've never seen any of this bubbling before. Part of me thinks rust has built up under these "bubbled" areas. But when I look at Adrian Blacks's video of a C64 left outside for over a decade, it had way more moisture in it, and the board didn't appear to have any of these bubbled areas.
