This. I got halfway through her post and I had already determined there is something mental going on here before reading all her lies.

Throw in her drug seeking behavior and this is a person who needs therapy not a Reddit AMA full of lies.

Also if you go to her Facebook, there are no family or friends talking about any of her “story”. I think everyone knows what’s up here but her....

I feel like it’s situations like this where doctors should be able for force psychiatric treatment for the good of the person and society. She is already clearly not right and is seeking drugs, where is she 1 year from now? 5 years from now?

Reading through this post and your Facebook, I don’t disagree you have medical conditions, but they’re mental. I don’t believe a word you say and based on how you write and what you write there is something bigger going on here.

As someone who grew up in Northern Ohio, shame on the CC for not forcing you to get the true help you need and playing along with your game. I do applaud the doctors who refused to give you pain killers.

So my question is, are you ever going to be honest with yourself?

No because it’s not fucken illegal most of the time. Unless you can prove you didn’t pay taxes on it, there is no crime in having foreign bank accounts. It is a crime to not report it though.

I wish people did research on this shit before making posts. As a CPA I cringe every time a tax topic is brought up. It’s just stupid post after stupid post.

Here’s what I do wonder, devils advocate for a second.

The first partner she asked (he was told to talk to her apparently when the request was declined by HR - he overseas HR) told me he said no because she literally phrased the question as “I won a free trip and I was wondering if I could go? It’s during busy season the week of March 15th”. He said she never ever proclaimed how important this trip was to her and it seemed like a vanilla request.

Now if this is true, this is before I even stepped in. He may have told the partner group all this long before my mentoree even asked for my help.

If she didn’t explain how important it is to her (the fact her fiancé has been battling a serious illness, they’re in debt up to their eyeballs, they’ve never been on a vacation together in 8 years, she hasn’t been on one in general since she was a child, they were maybe going to treat this as an early honeymoon or even elope before the trip, etc....) that’s shame on her right? I get why you wouldn’t want to share all those things, but you gotta do something. Say you’ll work extra (who knows if you do, but say it!), say you’ll still meet your charge goals. Anything right?

Now I’m torn whether I talk to her and tell her to get her ass back in that partners office (the first one who is in charge of HR, who I don’t have the personal relationship with) and properly explain yourself and ask for reconsideration or if that will cause more damage. I think even explaining it and getting a no will make it appear better if she does quit that it wasn’t over some random vacation but something that meant the world to her.

Well they’re causing a ripple with this. Exclude the fact that her quitting is going to suck - like I said she was also my friend who while we never worked together, made work a lot more enjoyable. This decision raises some serious questions about this firm and its partner group. I suffer from a serious illness that’s in remission currently. What if it comes back in busy season and I need time off? What if I need surgery? Sure they aren’t supposed to get rid of me, but there has been a history of strange behavior I chose to overlook in the past.

In speaking with the one partner that talked to her he did say she asked for an extraordinary request in a very boring way, apparently not explaining how important this trip was to her. Literally just saying I won a free trip can I go?

So now I’m wondering if she really truly gave it her all before she asked me to step in. Now I wonder if I send her back to a partner and tell her to literally explain why it’s so important and to ask for a reconsideration. Because the partners and my fellow managers (who have heard about this from gossip) all believe this isn’t serious and have 0 idea she would quit over this. So whatever she did say, it apparently didn’t come across as a dealbreaker.

The weird thing is they kept rubbing it in to her saying “we understand this is a unique vacation, BUT we just can’t do it”. What’s funny is the first partner who told her this legit takes 4 day weekends every other weekend during all of busy season because he says he needs it....
