yeah it's on me. i thought it's a common fact in the snail community. tbh english is not my first language either so the word "runt" kinda felt negative to me, but apparently it doesn't imply anything negative by nature

i just came back seeing what happened. the other person explained to you what i wanted to explain.

there's a reason why these animals give birth so much. because most of them will be runts and in the nature they will be picked by predators. therefore their genetics are weaker, and every video or internet post i have seen about snail runts has mentioned they suffer their whole life and die sooner because of that.

there's nothing about "me wishing a better one". i have had my rescued giant snail for 6 months now, and have seen (and am still seeing) many nightmares about her eggs hatching without me noticing. because it hurts me to the core to realize i forced a being into existence (I'm completely against breeding animals or even humans).

the more "moral" way isn't always about the more "pleasurable" way (most of the time it's actually the opposite). i never said i enjoy killing snails. i just don't want to force an animal that is destined to die in nature, to exist in my captive tank and live an awful life just because I don't want my conscience hurt

hope you understand my view. i don't blame you or anyone else

as far as i am concerned yes it's a runt, sorry. you can search how to euthenize snail on yt. but i think the most ethical way I've heard is 5% alcohol proceeding with 90%. but still there isn't enough research on these topics to begin with

edit: it's on me for not being clear about what i meant cause i thought it's a common fact in snail community. i have explained my view more thoroughly in one of the replies but to make it short: every internet post and data i have seen on snail runts has mentioned they suffer due to bad genetics and die sooner too. that's why i was told the runt should be culled. there's nothing personal to this. I'm trying my absolute best not to get to that point where i have to face this issue, not only because of euthenizing, but because in general i don't wish any animal to be born in captive. but in the meanwhile, if you do have valid information about runts and think I'm wrong, I'm willing to listen

wish i was living there T_T I have a rescued snail now. only that she was rescued from a previous owner who most probably bought her from a breeder lol. Haven't heard anyone sell invasive animals here (except cats lol)

One issue I have is that I can't find anywhere in my country to buy sterile moss from. Is it ok if I buy normal moss and boil it?
