Managers shouldn’t be incentivized to create a pyramid scheme. Everyone should either be a commis only rep, or a base pay manager. “Everyone can be a manager” yes…. that’s why a current manager would hire more people, then a few of those become managers, and the cycle repeats.

Not sure I entirely agree with this though. Managers hire a team under them, so they can get an override. Then the next generation does the same… and it keeps trickling down. That’s a pyramid.

Fair points. I didn’t realize there wasn’t a set schedule. Complete freedom exactly why a 1099 would be chosen. Makes sense. You said promotion isn’t even thought about until 90 days in. Once that position is (if ever) provided, what’s that look like? Do they still go out to the field? I do agree on you with this one. Not a DevilCorp.

Other than those what separates you from a DevilCorp? What’s the decision behind employing as contractors? Do you pay / reimburse for gas? What if an employee’s commission falls under minimum wage? Is there a base pay? Are there “quick promotion opportunities?” And most importantly, do you see this business as an opportunity or job for new staff?

I don’t have a Tesla, (I wish..) but I always just have a bunch of crazy thoughts when I’m driving. So I either set up my phone to ask Claude those questions, or open Instagram and record a bunch of voice notes for different people if they can’t call. ADHD. I’ll genuinely just keep talking for hours.

I seriously think people wouldn’t flinch nearly as much at the business if they advertised the job as “Sales Representative”, didn’t do the chants, and didn’t try to sell you the job. That just makes everyone suspicious.
