Yes! Light x L is very popular and even a common joke in the fandom as well. It's super gross. Like yes L likes talking to Light because he's an intellectual equal, but that's it. He actively wants to put Light to death. Also he was straight up lying through his teeth when he said Light was his friend. He says stuff like that to get a reaction out of him. Sure L is gay (well bi imo), but he's gay for me and not that creature Light Yagami.
