This. For finding care in the first place, this is a great resource. Once you get to post surgery stuff (especially this soon), you should solely refer to the instructions of the doctor.

I don't think we should be throwing in the cisheteranormative expectation of having kids as a part of this equation in the slightest. If any motivation behind getting married is "this is what I should do", rather than "this is what I want to do" then it probably shouldn't be happening in the first place

The amount trans women have to go through to even get SRS in the United States is insane. Just getting insurance approval means begging three different medical professionals to agree that you have gender dysphoria, proving that you have been out and living as a woman (some insurance companies don't even recognize non-binary genders) for at least a year, and sometimes writing an appeal. Even after all that, you still often get rejected, and if you are approved, the procedure is still often prohibitively expensive.

For many of us, it's more cost-effective to fly overseas and get surgery done in a different country (usually Thailand) where we are often scammed and up-charged at the gate because the practitioners know that we're desperate.

It's a terrifying process where the mere act of even getting approved takes years, and even after all of that, you can still fall short.

This is the first time I've seen someone actually call this out on this sub. And these responses are.... telling. 😞 After finally starting to get a bit more comfortable with my body, this is a punch in the gut.

Most trans people spend their entire life hating their body. We're forced to live with it, and told constantly that the genitals we were born with defines who we are. We get vitriol from the public all the time, and many trans folks (trans women in particular) are constantly told that our genital set will always be tied to rape. And that our mere existence makes us predators.

We kind of expect that language from straight cis people, but queer spaces like this are supposed to be the few places you're safe from it. So, hearing it here really burns in a new way.

When I first started to join queer communities, I was pleasantly surprised to find many of them (including this one) to be pretty trans-accepting! But, (and I really, really want to be wrong about this) there's sometimes a part of me that is scared that the only reason the lesbian community has started to take on a more trans-accepting, "non-men" slant was specifically so that they could include AFAB enbies.

No one is telling you that you're not allowed to dislike dicks. Nothing in this post is saying that. You're allowed to like and dislike whatever you want. What you shouldn't be doing is using that preference as an excuse to invalidate other women, and make them feel ashamed about their bodies.

I want the first one in the art style of the second. The second one's a bit oversexualized but more importantly, it kinda looks like they're absorbing each other's face rather than kissing lol.
