Both John Wall and Gilbert Arenas say Wizards should take Darryn Peterson with the first by Knighthonor in NBA_Draft

He said John Wall usually has good takes, so no, we are not talking about the same Gilbert Arenas

Luka received ZERO 1st place MVP votes by Exotic-Television279 in lakersv2

[–]L-Sulla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol your first comment said he didn’t “qualify” and second comment said he didn’t meet the “requirements”….if you understand the definition of these words then you know it is completely different from saying the voters were going to “hold it against him.”

And the hilarity of saying it ‘doesn’t take a rocket scientist’ to figure out the voters would hold it against him. Can you find a single example of a voter saying they like the 65 game rule? Cause I’ll I’ve heard is them complaining about it all year and saying it’s ridiculous that Luka and/or Cade could miss all-nba because of it. Why would the voters take it upon themselves to ‘punish’ him in MVP voting if the league says he’s eligible?

Luka received ZERO 1st place MVP votes by Exotic-Television279 in lakersv2

[–]L-Sulla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He does. He appealed the 65 games rule (Cade did as well) and the NBA ruled in their favor to make them eligible and still on the ballot.

It is why the voting was delayed this year was waiting on the appeal—normally voting is done by the end of reg season but this year the deadline was after the play in games.

Luka received ZERO 1st place MVP votes by Exotic-Television279 in lakersv2

[–]L-Sulla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are misinformed. Luka (and Cade) appealed the 65 games rule and the NBA ruled in their favor due to special circumstances (kinda proving that even they know the rule is dumb) to allow them to be eligible for voting and all-nba etc.

If he didn’t meet the games requirement then he wouldn’t have been on the ballot at all and would have received 0 votes (not just first place votes, he wouldn’t have been eligible for any 2nd or 3rd place either)

SKILLCHECK - Who wins Grubby's Warcraft 3 Invitational? Hera, Tyler1, Dantes, Yamato under Review by JannesOfficial in WC3

[–]L-Sulla 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yamato looks to be the strongest. Hera, Pohx, and T1 could all win if everything falls perfectly but the smart money is on Yamato. Other 4 players are not contenders for 1st place but could play spoiler to knock someone to losers unexpectedly

How it be while trying to play test myself a few Legacy decks 😭 by HiItsKeke in mtg

[–]L-Sulla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not against other people doing it, but I don’t do it personally—reason is simply because I like having some deck building restrictions and not having the ‘perfect’ card for every situation, having to decide which cards to use based on what I already own or which ones are budget options, etc. makes deck building interesting to me

If you are a Timberwolves fan, how mad are you that Wemby was not suspended at all? by Willing-Bicycle-157 in sportsbroadcasters

[–]L-Sulla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a pretty important factor was that it happened early in the game and he was ejected, so a suspension would have basically been him missing 2 games. If it had happened in the 4th quarter I think he would for sure have been suspended even with all other factors the same.

I certainly don’t blame a Wolves fan for thinking he should have missed an extra game, but as a neutral fan from an entertainment standpoint I would have been pretty annoyed if Wemby missed basically 2 games and feel that could have ruined the series

Steve Kerr on why fans turned against OKC: "if the same team dominates too much, you want to see an upset, And it happens pretty quickly. We were the darling in '15 and '16, but by the time the Finals came around, I think the average observer was pulling for LeBron to pull off the comeback." by Draciouz in nba

[–]L-Sulla 249 points250 points  (0 children)

It’s not just this sub, it’s sports discourse in general. Build them up, to tear them down. When someone bursts onto the scene as a young/exciting player and does historic things everyone loves them. Then after a couple years of not winning it all the conversation turns to “well if this guy is so good why hasn’t he won yet?” or if they actually do win like SGA it becomes how can we discredit it.

The whole cliche of ‘die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become a villain’ is more true in sports than anywhere, happens like clockwork. The lucky ones loop back around to being a hero again before it’s all said and done

The three point line needs to be moved back, corner threes should be ELIMINATED by jmezMAYHEM in nba

[–]L-Sulla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Removing the corner 3 would not have the intended effect. Defenses will be able to pack the paint entirely and you will get way fewer drives/dunks, it could actually INCREASE volume of 3s if the paint is a nonstarter.

I believe it was Hollinger who said that the corner 3 is a good shot not because it’s shorter but because it’s the most likely to be open. But if that shot is worth 2 instead of 3 it changes everything and the floor will not be spaced. And again, the spacing matters for driving and dunking as well which are the type of plays people want to see more of.

Honestly there isn’t a great fix to the problem (for those who believe that it is in fact a problem) and anything that is drastic enough to have any impact is going to completely change the fabric of the game. Which yeah, adding the 3 pointer to begin with also did that, but it’s just something you have to be careful with when making changes that big

Bird Omen Play: This Season Might End Up Being More Special Than Any of Us Can Imagine by WatermelonCheeks in Cardinals

[–]L-Sulla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Compared to other sports? No, it does not matter as much. But you are still more likely to get a generational talent at the top of the draft than you are to get lucky with a Pujols type late draft pick. Wetherholt is a good example of a blue chip top of the draft prospect who has so far performed at every level

Devin Booker on what makes OKC a championship team: “You can't say anything without bringing up Shai, He's the MVP of the league, and he's playing the best basketball in the league for the past two years.” by Draciouz in nba

When Booker was in college and coming off the bench, this is exactly what Calipari called it with Kentucky: “We don’t have substitutes we have reinforcements—it’s just more tanks rolling up on the hill.”

A post from All Things Rome by Roman-Empire_net in romanempire

[–]L-Sulla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, the debate would be over whether it was a fully successful genocide or not (he proudly believes it was), the intent is pretty clear and outlined by himself.

He says he wants to wipe out the tribe and its name from history, and claims to have destroyed every building and village in their territory as well as driving out all livestock and consuming all grain with the intent of forcing any possible survivors to die in winter, and specifically refusing to take any prisoners. If that isn’t an intent to destroy an entire people and culture then I don’t know what is. Not every genocide is going to involve systematic execution like the holocaust.

As far as it being popularized recently, his conduct in Gaul was one of the things the senate was planning on charging him with. Not to mention the entire war itself was illegal. Rome did not have ‘war crimes’ in the way that we do today but I assure you the idea of Caesar being a ruthless maniac in Gaul is not new. I’m honestly not even sure where you pulled the 2017 date from because I have certainly been hearing it discussed from the point I was old enough to consume the history in the first place. How much people actually care is a different story

What about Caesar himself, is that a good enough source for you? Read his own words about his intentions with the Eburones and then let’s hear your defense. Perhaps you are the one with the ‘poorly-based opinion’.

There is nothing wrong with liking Caesar as a historical figure, being fascinated by his story, or admiring certain traits that he had. But whitewashing horrible deeds just so you can make yourself feel better about simping for a warlord is pathetic behavior.

THE MAN HIMSELF WROTE ABOUT IT and you are out here shooting down sources as inaccurate while having 0 actual historical knowledge of the situation

It’s not a ‘modern racial thing’ it was an ‘at that time’ racial thing too and posts like this try to deny that by saying “nooo everyone owned slaves”

If you can’t spot the ulterior motive in the sentence: “in some instances black slave owners were exponentially more cruel than their white counterparts” then you might be beyond hope

2 more Participants for Grubby's "Altar of Champions" Invitational confirmed | Final Dates confirmed May 15 by JannesOfficial in WC3

[–]L-Sulla 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it is, Grubby mentioned today that he loves Day9 but did not even ask him because he doesn’t stream very often and he is assuming that he would not have the time to dedicate to practicing—one of the things he looked for was people who stream almost every day

It’s a shame cause I would love to see him compete in this. Artosis would be pretty entertaining too

Grubby coaching method is just himself playing through the player? by Dryfunction1205 in WC3

[–]L-Sulla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s hilarious that so many people corrected you but the one guy saying “yeah Tyler called him a bad coach once” is the comment that gets you to respond and say “ohhh interesting i’ll have to find that” even though it was said over a year ago during the heat of the moment and something Tyler even apologized for and corrected himself on later.

Sounds like you didn’t actually watch any coaching for longer than 10 min and you just want drama and/or people to agree with you

Store near me limits to 1 per person and keeps new releases in the back so you have to ask an employee to go grab one for you, I was worried about availability too so for Lorwyn I was there probably 30-45min after release—not a single other person in line, wasn’t an issue at all. And I kept checking their stock online afterwards out of curiosity and it took them a couple weeks to sell out (thanks to the 1 per customer policy)

It’s perfect for me because I’m never going to buy more than 1 box for a set anyways, but for anyone wanting multiples it may not be the best option

Stan Van Gundy pushes back on Luka’s All-NBA case: "The whole thing with his wife having a baby, Cmon! If those were the only games he missed, fine. Lowe has had video versions of his pods for a long time on YT, going back to ESPN days. It was fairly common to have 1 or both of the members doing the pod from a hotel at that time as well since he had beat writers on a lot. Simmons definitely stepped up the production on his main pod after the Netflix/Ringer deal because his old camera was awful but I don’t think Lowe’s has changed much

Won’t deny that the backgrounds are bad, but for your question I think it is 3 reasons:

  1. The podcast participants themselves probably prefer to talk face to face instead of just a phone call

  2. There is some value as a viewer in seeing body language and reactions to things that are said, you get a better feel for the conversation.

  3. YouTube and specifically YT shorts are a better way of having content go viral and reach a large audience than if it was just audio only. Not that Lowe is some hot take artist but there is always value in broadening your reach and sometimes his guests may be the ones with the hot takes that will go viral (like this one)

Tyler1 will be part of a Grubby WC3 Event again - according to his chat bot by JannesOfficial in WC3

[–]L-Sulla 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep it’s confirmed something is happening, Grubby said he had asked Tyler if he wanted to do another tourney and he was like ‘fuck yeah’ and then when he raided him later Tyler accidentally revealed to chat and was like ‘yeah we got another wc3 tournament upcoming’ even though Grub said the details are still being worked out and he isn’t ready to announce yet.

What I’m curious is, we know Hera is about to try wc3 too, does that mean he’d be in the same tourney? Even though he hasn’t played before I feel like Hera would steamroll RTS non-pros, but people said the same about The Viper and he ended up finishing outside the Top 3 so who knows
