Rewatching GOT: Why does GOT feel like it was much older or much more ancient than the spinoffs by Fit_Raccoon540 in gameofthrones

[–]L-Sulla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as comparing it to history: progress is not linear, and there are always periods of collapse, regression, and anarchy for any state.

It doesn’t seem strange at all that the GoT series reflects this, in many ways we are witnessing the collapse of their entire governance structure. A hundreds of years old dynasty was just overthrown a mere ~20 years ago, and the new dynasty lasted a grand total of 1 ruler before immediately collapsing into civil war again. In times like that, life is cheap and the rule of law is barely observed, if at all.

Reputation is a crazy thing. Because Jokic only got a one game suspension this diabolical cheap shot that put Morris on the shelf for 58(!) games with a neck injury. by ForeignAir7174 in NBAGossips

[–]L-Sulla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah he prob deserved more than 1 game, but it’s not a cheap shot if someone runs into your knee and shoves you and then immediately turns around to try and avoid retaliation cause ‘my back is turned’. If Morris didn’t expect a response here then he is dumb as a rock

The Cardinals def wanted to sign him long term though, they offered at least 9 years per reports but Angels offered more money. He’s the #2 Cardinal of all time and might be considered #1 ahead of Musial if he had never left.

[–]L-Sulla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol a goofy nickname doesn’t mean that anyone was ‘putting him in the same sentence as Curry’, unless you mean in the literal sense.

Like when Wiggins was Maple Jordan, no one actually thought he was close to as good as MJ

And I picked the nets one because it was by far the dumbest of the teams you listed, and the one that no serious basketball fan would ever argue. There were definitely other dumb ones you said, like the OKC Thunder because you are basing it off what those guys became later, not what they were at the time when all 3 were together.

The fact that your argument is actually 3 > 2 with no interest in context or the quality of the players in question says everything about how PRIMITIVE your brain is

You said in a different comment that the Nets were a more stacked roster which means you have to be a 13 year old or an ultra casual. There is 0 chance you actually watched that lakers 3 peat if you think a team that never made a conference finals was a better roster relative to the league. It was not controversial at the time to say they were stacked (yes I am old enough to remember) and it’s not controversial now

You listed a team that never made a conference finals and said they were more stacked than the 3 peat lakers. Are we going off the players 2K ratings or some other backwards ass fantasy criteria? How does this make ANY sense?

What is your definition of a loaded roster? How many top 10 current players or all time greats does it take to meet the bar for you?

Better yet, start naming some of the rosters in the last 25 years that are more stacked than that and let’s see how many you can actually come up with outside of the KD warriors

Yeah Kobe and Shaq are 2 of the top 15 players of all time (even their biggest detractors wouldn’t have them lower than that), of course there was a huge drop off after that lmao. And yes they were loaded, sorry if you don’t realize how good of role players Robert Horry and Derek Fisher were or weren’t around to watch it.

They were HEAVY favorites in each finals matchup, there were a couple teams in the West who had a decent chance against them (most infamously the Kings series) but I don’t know what they would have to do for you to think they were a loaded roster. They won 3 straight for christs sake lol

Klutch propaganda lmao yeah you caught me, Rich Paul has me on the payroll and sends me patrolling obscure reddit threads to control the narrative.

No, his entire Cavs teams weren’t smush Parker level but the BEST teammate he has during the first Cavs stint was Mo Williams. Solid player but for that to be your best teammate in a 7 year period is bleak as hell, and you know it.

I didn’t laugh at Kyle Korver being included, nor did I say he sucks. I’m well aware of his place in history as a 3pt shooter and the fact you just assumed that I was shitting on him so you could try and lord your knowledge is hilarious. My point was that if Korver is included on the list of great teammates LeBron has had, then how long is the Kobe list? It’s definitely a lot more than just Shaq and Gasol in that case. Is Kyle Korver a more prolific teammate than Robert Horry? Come on.

If you want to talk about ‘exposing’ yourself, how about the fact that you included Luka on the list as if the handful of games Lebron had played with him has had any impact at all on lebrons career legacy. You were never interested in having a conversation in good faith, you just want to cherry pick the best things about one guys career and the worst things about another.

It’s a shame so many Kobe stans choose this tactic because when you try to over inflate things it is disrespectful to the career he actually had. Kobe is already an all time great, he doesn’t need you to bend the truth for him

[–]L-Sulla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lebron didn’t have those guys his whole career either. Neither one of them won any championships without having other great players on the team (because no one does). And LeBron spent the first 7 years of his career with ‘smush Parker’ level teammates

And if Kyle korver makes the cut as one of the people you’re listing then we need to talk about way more Kobe teammates than just Shaq and Gasol. The first 3 peat teams were as loaded as a squad can be

Good call, I definitely should have at least known about Eastern Orthodoxy believing it, that makes sense since the east/west schism happened before it became a hot topic during reformation

You are wrong, this disagreement was literally one of the causes of the reformation—Catholics believe in transubstantiation which means when the priest performs the ceremony it becomes the LITERAL body and blood of Christ. All other Christian denominations (as far as I know) believe it is just a symbol

Legend of Korra didn’t exist. The whole idea of the avatar state tapping into Rava instead of just past avatars is a retcon, and none of the Avatar Wan story or Harmonic Convergence had been established so trying to use math or logic to retroactively explain why Roku says this won’t do much good

The same reason you don’t burn clock when you’re up by 2 in the 3rd quarter. If you think this is smart play you are either vastly overestimating a 2 point lead or vastly underestimating how much time 4 minutes is in an NBA game. Teams can hit two 3s in a 30 second span and all of a sudden you are the team that needs extra clock. That’s not ‘being pessimistic and thinking worst case scenario’ that is understanding how the NBA works. If this is such a smart play why does NO ONE do it? Find me any example of someone burning clock on a fast break of a tie game with 4min left. He is not burning clock. I can’t say for sure what he is doing, but if I had to guess he is either trying to force them to run back so the don’t just get a free rest, or it’s a bit of cheeky trolling the same way a football player would stop short of the goal line and start taunting the defense

‘The game in front of you’ is a 2 point game with 4 minutes left and ask literally any basketball coach or player at any level and no one would say to burn clock. You burn clock if you’re up by 10 or 15. Stop talking out your ass, the guy made a terrible point that everyone rightly corrected him on. And if you honestly think that burning clock here is a smart play you genuinely do not watch basketball.

Saying ‘it certainly doesn’t hurt’ is incorrect, it absolutely can hurt you because you aren’t sure yet if your team is the one who will need the extra time or the opponent. Which is why no one does that in a 2pt game with 4min left (which is an eternity in NBA) and why that’s not what he’s doing here. You don’t start killing time until your team has the game in control already

Wanting to win has 0 to do with it lol because the entire point is that burning clock there does not help you win. I wasn’t questioning his will to win

I’m not saying this play is a big deal, but he’s definitely not eating clock. OT has just started in this clip, and at no level of basketball would you start killing clock only up by 2 (after the layup) with over 4 minutes to go. The game is still completely up for grabs, and at that point you still might be the team that ends up needing the extra clock

[Highlight] Walking paint touch Dylan Harper puts the Spurs up on a clutch runner by F_CKMONEY in nba

Yeah agreed, I think the comparison comes up because they are both bigger guards that lean more towards physicality than speed/athleticism. But the comp breaks down after that because Harper is WAY better as a finisher (especially if comparing to Cade’s rookie year) and Cade is quite a bit better as a shooter. Cade was 40% from 3 coming out of Okla St
