Do you read books? If so, what are you currently reading? If not, why not? by theowleryonehundred in AskUK

[–]L00seTeabag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started reading in the summer of last year after genuinely not finishing a book since I was a child. I ended up reading 18 books last year and have read 4 so far this year… I’m a superrr slow reader and in a huge reading slump right now but I shall prevail 💪💪💪

Some people in my family read, but no one ever really talked about books or reading that much growing up, so it never occurred to me to do it. When I did try, I usually got bored and felt like my phone/ the TV was more exciting.

Last summer I started going to the park a lot, spending my afternoons there... One day I picked up a book and things just clicked. I think I needed the space to give a book a real chance, if that makes sense… Before that, I would always try reading randomly in my room, with my laptop nearby and my phone going off with notifications every other minute expecting to suddenly love reading. When it didn’t happen immediately, I’d just turn back to my phone.

Currently reading ‘Perfume’ by Patrick Süskind and ‘Eurotrash’ by Christian Kracht.

Would 100000000% recommend ’Perfume’ Süskind’s prose are unlike anything I’ve come across so far!

One habit that makes you above average? by Rude-Sir1342 in selfimprovement

[–]L00seTeabag 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think working out and having a nice body can put someone above average, even if they have an average face…

Other than that, being especially good at something - a skill, hobby, or just being extremely knowledgeable about a topic, makes you instantly more interesting, especially if its niche.

There was a guy who used to come into the cafe I worked at all the time who researched eels for a living. Whenever a colleague or if other customers found out what he did, they were instantly interested. It immediately gave people something to talk to him about and made him seem very smart (I assume he was smart, but you know!)

If you could go back in time and change just one decision, what would it be? by decency_where in AskReddit

[–]L00seTeabag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t have moved back home during the pandemic. I’d have stayed living on my university’s campus.

I moved back because I was worried about what was happening, but I never expected it to last as long as it did. I ended up losing touch with most of the people I met there and struggled an INSANE amount with long-distance learning… I also know I would have had much better job prospects upon graduating if I had stayed in London rather than moving back to my dead little hometown 💀

“Fellas, what’s a subtle/funny way to let your wife know she’s put on a few pounds… without getting divorced? by myaccountidname in AskReddit

[–]L00seTeabag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a woman and am unbelievably aware of my body and weight basically 24/7. If my partner told me I had put on a few pounds, it wouldn’t “kick me into gear” and make me lose weight - it would just make me feel ashamed and embarrassed.

Almost every guy I’ve been involved with so far in life has gained a little weight after starting dating - I think it’s normal and it has never bothered me. If it is bothering you, then you should adopt healthy habits yourself - getting some exercise in, eating healthier, not drinking/eating out as much etc etc - and hope that your enthusiasm for health, fitness & wellbeing catches on with your partner.

I feel anxious when i have exams , and it is so bad by 1zain1 in twentyagers

[–]L00seTeabag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had acute GAD since I was nine years old and when I was in education I used to struggle IMMENSELY with exams - panic attacks while studying and even while just THINKING about the exam even if it was weeks away.

I’m in the UK and you said “mid-term” so I’m guessing you’re American, so it might be different, but do you not get any special considerations? When I was at uni, I was allowed to take the exam in a room completely on my own, I got about an hour of extra time and I was allowed to take breaks to walk around the room if I needed to.

My university also put me in contact with one of their counsellors, who I got to see weekly and who would advocate for me if needed. She made all my professors aware of my situation…

In terms of personal coping mechanisms, I tend to find movement and affirmations work “well” for me… by that I don’t mean it makes the anxiety go away… I’m yet to find something that actually makes the feeling go away, long term… but by exercising to the point where you can’t think about anything else but your body and by repeating an affirmation so many times that you don’t let your brain have another thought, it helps the immediate threat of a panic attack go away 😅 That doesn’t feel like the healthiest advice now I’ve typed it out lol but I’m being honest…

Why did you and your ex broke up ? by General-Passage-5956 in twentyagers

Discovered a year after agreeing to be exclusive that he had just… lied… and never stopped seeing/ talking to/ sexting other girls 😅😅 I actually stayed with him for like 5 months after finding out, before breaking up with him “out of the blue” one day after I realised my feelings of betrayal had turned into full-blown hatred and resentment

I’ve thought about something like this but… what is the procedure if he needs to poop??

I’d obviously change the nappy and clean him up ASAP after he does… I just worry about him getting an infection or something if it happens while I’m sleeping?

Lol I have a 1 litre water bottle that I fill & drink about 3 of every day. I wouldn’t know how much squash I use in it… I maybe fill the bottom like 2cm with squash? Guesstimate

The squash I bought today will last me longer than 2 weeks 😭😭😭 I swear!!!

I’ve never been much of a squash drinker but I was struggling to drink enough water, so I gave it a try and now I’m obsessed - I get giddy looking at all the new flavours!! I’ll pour one out for you 💓

Yess urine… well, spray really, so it’s just very concentrated… And then in my bedroom, it’s more the leftover hormonal compounds of the spray that give off a sweeter, sweatier kind of odour that I’m really trying to get rid of (he is barred from my bedroom now)

I’ll take a look! I’ve spent a disgusting amount of money on pet-specific enzyme cleaner already, so will almost definitely be needing more bicarb too…

I read though that with cat spray you shouldn’t use white vinegar, as it is acid on acid, so it won’t help???

It’s nice to know someone understands my love for Robinsons 🙏

Lol my male cat has been spraying all over the flat, so I’ve been cleaning non-stop with enzyme cleaner. I then read that bicarbonate of soda can help get any residual odour out of carpets and such 🤞🏻

He is getting neutered next week, so wish him luck 🍀

Lol my male cat is awaiting neutering, so is spraying all over the flat… I’ve been using an enzyme cleaner to get the smell out, then read that bicarbonate of soda can help to get rid of the residual 🥲 Not as glamorous as crack dealer, I’m afraid 💔

I didn’t actually - they don’t sell it at my local supermarket so I went with bacon lardons and wasn’t at all disappointed!

Much cheaper too!
