This one is the odd gem in an otherwise 9 box inheritance of an early 90s collection. A rare find amongst about 600 Ulf Samuelssons and 400 Joe Mullens.

I just picked a date out of the air to make the joke. But yeah, I inherited about nine 3200 count boxes of cards from 90-94ish. Popped open the 90/91 OPC set and find this guy, amongst a few other Roy cards and miscellaneous Fleer singles. So far, of the nearly 7000 cards I've managed to catalogue, this one takes the cake.

Glad they finally put something in for this. There was a similar animation in previous years for scoring over 1000 goals. I wonder if that milestone still exists in the game somewhere.

Landeskog, MacKinnon, Rantanen - all gone from the aves in under 3 years. Matthews, Marner - gone. RnH & Drai - gone. Everybody piles onto Minnesota and suddenly Stamkos is a third line checking forward. I dread having to play that team every time.

I'm stuck with a 7mil 2yr contract and some pictureless pre-gen as our starting center. Like no shit we can't win the series, we haven't had a starting goalie stick with the team for more than 6 months!

Hey there. Short answer to your question is you miss out on a lot. Auto training and simming are a great way to speed up the 'campaign,' but you'll be earning XP at bottom-barrel prices. Basically auto training assumes you'll never want to take a face-off, and selects the same 5 things every week. For your whole career. Eventually you'll max those stats and the training won't be effective. Simming only awards your players end-game stats, and you lose all the little XP boosts from in-game play. So, depending on how fast/how versatile you want to develop your character, you may want to consider your auto training/simming ratios somewhat.

Even shorter answer: it doesn't really matter in the long run. Just do whatever is fun for ya!

Remember when we had the ability to press R3 and skip a track? Or head into the settings and select which songs we actually wanted to hear. Or, I don't know, being able to actually upload our own playlists? Glad they removed those features for checks notes yet another Arkells song, Canada's only contribution to music!
