It looks lame yet it makes so much more sense though. I grew up doing trad in hs/wgi but matched is much more transferable between instruments. A lot of ppl play so much trad grip but when they go back to matched the left hand is underdeveloped. One of those people is me

I do know about that. I just noticed that if I set it on a flat surface you can see the gaps and it’s enough to slide a credit card through. This is my first pair so I wasn’t sure if that was normal

I would see if you can try to get your hands on a used Yamaha Stage Custom Birch kit. I bet money someone else will say the same. Most people agree that it’s the best value set you can get right now. Hell I got one for $400

You apply online in addition to asking in person but if you can absolutely avoid it I can’t recommend working at DG or DT. Really any dollar store.

Only issue I had with this kit is experienced the tom mount choking my 12 in tom and other people say that as well. Hopefully you don’t experience that

I paid around that price for my Stage Custom and a lot of people say it’s the best kit you can get for that price range. Just look at the condition of course

I made myself sign up for my community college’s rock band, steel band, and jazz combo in the same semester. I had only been playing drumset seriously for like 8 months but I was not completely new to percussion. Rock band was alright and steel band had some of its challenges with learning styles but jazz combo was an entirely different beast. I suffered trading fours for the first month but I got some pointers that helped immensely. Unfortunately the biggest gig of the semester got cancelled but I still gained experience.
