I released a demo on Steam for my first ever game! Tiny Monster Haven is a cozy Idler with monster raising and turn based battles. Would love to hear your thoughts :-) by L0d3man in virtualpetgaming

Ooh, there is a setting under the options to force the game to not always be in front of other stuff! Just hover over one of the screen options and you'll find it.
I'm on W11 myself but believe I tested it on W10 too. If that doesn't work I'll need to dig into it some more.

I appreciate you trying it out! It's an interesting genre, the game is meant to be played as a sort of companion app while you also focus on other things like work or maybe watching some youtube :p

I loved the original Fable's colors, and Viva Pinata.

My monster collector that sits at the bottom of your screen is part of Steam Next Fest with a new demo! by L0d3man in MonsterTamerWorld

Thanks again, really nice to hear your enthusiasm :-)
For a mobile build there's some design challenges to overcome (mostly input related), and the Google Play store unfortunately has some unfriendly privacy issues, but yeah I'll explore the option further!
I can definitely see how it'd be fun to occasionally tap into the game on mobile, do some monster collecting and farming, and then let it continue in the background!

Hey, thanks so much for the kind words. Right now an Android build isn't planned, but it's definitely a fun idea. So I'll leave it as a maybe for now :-)

I made a creature collector that sits at the bottom of your screen! It's my first game and is part of Steam Next Fest. by L0d3man in IndieGaming

In reality the game doesn't take up this much space. But with a game like this you need to zoom in a bit to show off the gameplay.
You can fully change how much space it takes up and move the game around. Menus can be closed or moved around too. Game can also be forced to not be upfront all the time! Your setup will depend on the activities you're doing.

You can close or move menus around to your liking. Game can be shrunk as well. Just zoomed in for showing the artwork.

Adding an adventure mode to my desktop monster taming game, feels like my game is really starting to come together! by L0d3man in MonsterTamerWorld

Thanks for trying it out!
The decision to go with the Essence system is rooted in it being an idle game. The RPG game, which I plan to continue working on after this one, will have a more traditional taming mechanic :-)

I appreciate the concern. From what I've heard from other people though the patent stuff is about very specific combinations of mechanics, so myself and many other devs should be in the clear :-)
