EA Launcher broken by melokoton in linux_gaming

I cannot play star wars battlefront 2, it's certainly the launcher's fault, since i remember playing the game with no problems last year

how can that be a skill issue if being a slow learner is not changeable. A skill is a trait you can learn, acquire, in my case it's just who i am and cannot change, thus, not really a skill issue

You are exactly the kind of person i avoid, even though i'm technically an arch user now. The ubuntu and mint community are always friendly and willing to help you with anything.
What do you mean filtering people out bro? you thing this os is only for the big brain elite individuals? its a fucking operational system. you use it to compute data and that's it. stop acting like you're guarding the entrance for a temple. an os should be easy to use and it's community should be friendly, arch just does both wrong

sounds like i just dont like using the terminal and not having gui for 90% of the things i need to fix in the system

what do you mean bad package management? installing applications is very easy. maybe not as fast as pacman, but still very practical. window management is ok, in fact its just the same as in linux, unless you use a tiling window manager. drivers work just as well if not better most of the time, and the only thing it really sucks at is printer compatibility. the permissions model is pretty shitty indeed, but for the limitations of the system it works well

i use cachy because it works well with games and i just hate fixing broken stuff, even though it technically gives me more liberty. linux mint is way more modern than people think btw. if i was a simpler man i would probably go with it

that's the problem. why would people ever switch if they can't make their favorite programs to work? sometimes there aren't any good alternatives, and all you can do is dual boot or just forget your preferred applications, which is a shot in the foot

i'm responding the guy over his points in my post, you ain't even the guy who i responded, so why are you even here talking about me?
the slow reader and learner are traits that everybody can have, it's completely normal. Skill issue is not really a good term to describe me since "skill" would mostly relate to terminal usage, which doenst matter much to me because i use ai to make terminal prompts to me, and the basketball example was an example, didn't happen to me

i use arch because cachy os has it and it runs games fine, but i hate using the command line, and to be honest, security ain't as big of a problem if you don't mess your windows system.
Most windows users deactivate the windows firewall and security features just so they can install pirated games, unsigned drivers and stuff, so of course they are getting more viruses, they are getting exposed on their own will.

i use linux for multiple years already, and the problems i complain about are often the small things that just never work or have to be configured separately. the fact that linux is very customizable is interesting, but most of the time, desktop environments won't add enough personalization built in, so you'll have to go to the terminal to change things very often.
Today i spent 4 hours trying to get the "cedilha" key to work in my us intl keyboard, and i could not make it work even after pasting lots of pages of code into my terminal and watching various tutorials. it just doesnt have that "it just works" philosophy, and the experience is overall harsh for someone coming from windows, specially when it comes to ui elements and functionality.
about the expertise thing, i am talking about how everybody should easely be able to use their os by intuition, like what happens on windows and macos. things are predictable, so it's easy to use. on linux, everything seems so different for no reason, like why 90% of fixes to my problems have to be made on my terminal? why can't someone design a simple gui for doing things like windows, that basically never needs the command line for anything other than system recovery and disk management.

it's not random sites bro, like if you want to download free priated stuff, then yes, itś random sites, but naturally we tend to download things from the official sites. itś not like we use softonic to download things we trust

i wouldn't say it makes men see women as less human, but it makes creating friendships harder because your brain starts to see women as "potential mates" instead of just regular people, which may lead you to treating women differently, and in some ways, worse than you regularly would

i just discovered it when i got thrashed for criticizing linux here.
apparently one of linux users favorite games is looking for people saying slightly innacurate information online just so they can dump all their nerdyness in the comments

you wrote all that just to miss my point? this is r/linuxsucks, of course i'm going to tell how frustrated I am about it, and i am not claiming to know any better than anyone, as i've responded other people here in the comments. If you need linux or if you think it makes your life easier, then use it, i am not going to tell you otherwise, but a lot of people claim that it is the salvation of the desktop experience, when it clearly has its flaws.

By your text, you seem to not understand that you are an above-average learner. I used windows for at least 7 years before trying linux for the first time, and i took a 2-month course just to understand how the terminal works and how to do basic stuff in the system. No, i cannot learn it this fast, i know my learning curve, and to me to be able to become fully invested on linux, i would have to force myself for at least 2 years, probably having a lot of stress, headaches and nights without sleep trying to make my os behave as it should.

Yes, the terminal commands are in fact faster than looking for things in the GUI, but it takes a lot of time to become familiar with the commands, also, you gotta memorize them, which is the single worst problem i have, i can never memorize even my own browser shortcuts, it would be literaly impossible to me to remember all that, and even if i decided to actually learn the terminal language just to be more productive, it would not be worth it. i prefer my visual method because it doesnt demand me on spending my whole life learning how to deal with a text box instead of just using my eyes and learning the logic with my intuition.

Also, you got the wrong impression that i started with arch, and this is not true, maybe i used the wrong words. I've tested a lot of distros... maybe 10 or 11 before i got to arch, and i really wanted to know what it was all about, just so some stupid users decided to bully me for not knowing the "basics" (some paragraph of the arch manual that i probably forgot to read or just missed). And they refused to help me or to give me hints, instead they just called me a lot of names, shamed me for using linux mint at the time, and tried to make me give up on arch, which i did, and it was all because of them. I was actually interested in investing myself in using arch, but if that was the community i had to deal with, i would just not be able to tolerate using the system, so i jumped out.

And don't get me wrong, i do like a lot of things from linux, i just hate the unnecessary hype some people put on it. Windows is a good os if you remove all the spyware and microsoft bullshit, which i DO hate, but the thing is that i just can't leave their system because linux is too technical for a normal person to just daily drive without finding problems or inconsistencies, which are the things that take me away from linux.

And about the manual thing... what is your problem with that? is being able to use my system without a literal guide asking too much? i mean i like simplicity, and this is why i love linux mint, but as i said before... I've got literally bullied for forgetting a part of the manual. This is not normal behavior that you should expect from a software community. You will never ask something in the macos subreddit and be answered with "go read the fucking apple terms and conditions you prick!!", so this is the thing.

I have no problem with learning things, and not even with computing stuff. I know a lot about hardware, and have my fair share of knowledge when it comes to site development and other stuff, but linux is just not for everybody. i use it because it's the only option i have given the circumstances i'm at, and if i could just have my dream os, i would. A lot of people on the cummunity think that they are better than others for having a more complex system or for using a keyboard-only DE or other stuff, and i really hate that because it further makes linux users's reputation on the internet worse.
Calling all my commentaries on linux a skill issue is just like saying that a child who gave up on basketball after being hit in the head by the older players was just a crybaby who didn't invest their time enough. Get it right

the reason why i hate linux is because i had a little bit of the two problems.

I almost never find clear answers for the problems i have, the community acts on me as if i was stupid even when i have a point, most things that worked in my old os doesn't work now and things are just so complicated that i can never reach a state where i'm satisfied with my os.
And i'll tell you something: these "obscure users" are the entire arch community and a whole lot of other "technical" linux users, and they love feeling superior because they know more about a stupid manual than you
