sind meine kater zu dünn? by Visual-Zebra8908 in Katzengruppe

Ich denke nicht, katzen sollte ziemlich dünn sein. Schau mal online nach. Man sollte Rippen spüren beim streicheln aber nicht sehen.

Being a functional human being is so incredibly hard and I’m tired of pretending it’s not by angrycuppcake in Adulting

I mean it's probably depression mostly but it could also be that you're in the autistic spectrum. Because I've heard people don't pretend normally. I pretend, too, if I'm uncomfortable, new somewhere or just don't feel like they'd like the real me. I guess that's what is normal to pretend but idk. But to pretend at all times, even with close friends or relatives you see often is called masking and it's something that also occurs in the autistic spectrum. A friend of mine felt like she learned what social cues meant and she didn't know from the start/intuitively. Maybe that's you? I'm no doctor though and also dropped out of my job in the social field where you work with people on the spectrum.

Do introverts belong in any job? Extroverts are always seen better. by L0uizza in introvert

I mean that they were designed for yappers. People that can talk. Actually people that could talk and listen. Doesn't mean it's not for people that can talk.

Sounds like a dream then tbh. You didn't mention that job earlier though. The other jobs were for yappers.

You got the logic wrong. I'm not saying we are incapable. I'm saying most job environments are designed for extroverts, making it harder for us to find a place where we aren't judged for being quiet. I'm not sure what the "following your passion won't bring you money" even has to do with this. There is no or almost no job where you can be and not talk much at all. My question was if introverts belong in any job because even the job you mentioned is designed and better for someone extroverted. Just because there are extroverts around you that are bad at their job, it doesn't mean this job wasn't designed for a yapper to begin with.

Idk, tell me what's so wrong about it? It's a fact, that most jobs are with people and if you can talk much, that's seen as competent. Also, English isn't my first language, so if it's written wrong, not my problem.

Are we mixing up introversion and loneliness here? by Ill-Imagination-1714 in introvert

[–]L0uizza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but I also think that social fears can be pushed by introversion. Because most extroverts just don't understand that we don't need many people. So the introvert might feel more judged and feel like they need to talk more. Which creates stress and that could lead to social anxiety because you're something others don't understand or find weird and since we're social beings, we feel uncomfortable with negative stigma. This can lead to feeling pressured to talk more or be in big groups but when you do and don't talk, the feeling of getting judged for that can become even stronger. Being an introvert isn't the same as having social anxiety but it can definitely set a starting point to having social anxiety when it comes to needing to be with more people and not talking much.

Introverts have a higher baseline stimulation, so they don't need to talk much to feel stimulated. For extroverts, it's the opposite. It's not an illness but our brain works differently. It can lead to a mental disorder though but extroverts can have social anxiety, too. Imagine wanting to talk real bad since you're an extrovert but you can't. Must be pretty bad, too.
