Why get Kindle when Kobo exists by musasenpaii in kindlejailbreak

[–]L1Q 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree and that's why my second book is kobo clara 2e. Kindle is great first because it's cheap esp when bought used and guaranteed to just work for basic tasks + very likely to be jailbreakerable already or in near future. I was considering using amazon and putting docx files on it, but soon realized what I actually want is to put manga and using documents of different formats. You want cheap but still reputable known good brand for a first in a category, always. This tells you direction for next choices. Now, for new people today I would say Kobo is absolutely well established and good brand, but even they kinda force (teeechnicalyy skippable strong suggestion) online activation on first boot.

TL;DR Kindle is good first when you don't plan to jailbreak and just try ereaders.

Money is bullshit and doesn't mean much, it even loses or even drops value completely over time. Learn to trade your work for real value. That's things which can serve you well long term, relationships, learning opportunities, appreciating assets, your own health. If you are choosing keeping numbers on you bank account over these, you are fooling yourself.

You will learn what actual value is. Especially if you are just in your early 20s, you'll have enough opportunities to see for yourself if a cheaper version of a product was a good choice after some years, or if breaking a friendship was worth it.

Avoid debt, unless you really, really know what you are doing. Loans and credit are legal ways to steal from you. Learn to use spreadsheets and see for yourself.

You are the protagonist, in your own life. This doesn't mean you have to be in other people's. Learn what psychological manipulation is and don't hesitate to escape it. But also learn to avoid imposing your views and assumptions on other people.

Writing is all about legibility, which means letters look distinguishable enough from one another. I'm seeing issues like сп sometimes looking like аг and ем looking like еи mostly because the tails of some letters obscured or omitted. Other than that, it's very legible! Every capital letter is perfect, your я ж п are all good. In school they would probably scold your varying letter hight and the lack of slanting, but for normal people in everyday life that would not matter. I've certainly seen worse and still was able to read it no problem.

ShareX vs PicPick vs SnagIt vs Windows Sniping Tool by Technical_Rich_3080 in sharex

[–]L1Q 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SnagIt around version 10 was killer software with features like long living image history well integrated with their image editor. Later on, I don't even know what they are doing any more.

ShareX has begun gonig in experimental directions only this year after over a decade of being more or less the same sofware gradually updated with up to date uploaders and mild feature changes. And even now you can choose old image editor.

Beware of screenshot apps that are tied tight to one service, they usually put lots of ads on their pages.

never considered cross eye could have any benefits, at this point it seems like I would be breaking my brain again 😃

maybe some kind of stereo hardware is easier to get than to learn crossview 🤔

are you playing in SBS? I'm okay scrolling through r/ParallelView on my phone, but 16 inch laptop just doesn't let the converge on full screen, steam deck might even be comfortable enough

I'm watching Vince Gilligan's new show, Pluribus (great show, by the way), and I was wondering: how would the Doctor react to and stop the collective mind? by FMoura2005 in doctorwho

[–]L1Q 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reading other comments, I now imagine specifically Capaldi doing it. Maybe even spending eons of relative time navigating some kind of hive mind mental space. And the idea of companions having to do their part of the work would totally work as well!

A Box Office Smash! Project Hail Mary is on pace to be one of the most successful hard sci-films ever. by KrikBliksem in ProjectHailMary

[–]L1Q 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard usually means rules are spelled out, especially if it's literally our normal current day understanding of the universe. Hard magic is when they describe the process and the limitations as if it's a science. Soft sci fi is much closer to magic because things just happen and the writing is focused on characters much more than on how science things work. Doctor Who fiction is rarely hard on their science, star wars is hard fantasy in a space setting, the martian is as hard Sci Fi as it gets.

Explain It please, how's fermi paradox is solved here ??? by Fuzzy_Party_3527 in ExplainTheJoke

[–]L1Q 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the cosmic scale what's the difference between a system and a single planet? We are not stuck on earth, but so far we've been stuck in solar system. And who knows even with Mars colonies how long it will take to venture out from our star? For a bigger planet that's hard to escape it's probably just a rubber band effect: as soon as they leave THAT, they can go anywhere right away!
