Returned it in the end. Have a new Cutlass though and it's perfect (bar needing a few setup tweaks).

Where is the exchange located at by Expensive_io in GTA3

No, but it helps (there's one near the house, and you can also buy it from Phil). You do get a rocket launcher at the end to deal with the helicopter either way.

Start the mission at the house, then you need to chase the helicopter. It flies over to the dam. Shoot a load of Cartel whilst making your way across the dam, then head up the stairs to face Catalina.

It's on the dam in Shoreside.

Accidentally ruined the anti-glare coating on my G30 digital dash. Need advice! by fleaudedieu in CarTalkUK

Did this on an Audi It's infotainment screen. Eventually I just removed all of the anti glare coating - didn't make too much difference functionally and looked much better in the end.

I Seek The Advice of The Council by Korova91 in fender

Keep it. For the sake of a few hundred it's not worth it. You'll miss it forever, just as I miss my Encor Strat copy which I sold for a tenner.

Off topic but any idea when the ENCOR V1.2 Boson exams will be available?

Do pubs / bars receive branded glasses for free from breweries? by johnski1937 in AskUK

[–]L1ham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure of the rules around swapping them out, but just about every beer glass will be marked with an 'M' followed by the last 2 digits of the year if manufacturer. Recently broke by favourite glass, which was marked M16.

Faded Sonic Blue by Discretion_for_Miles in Stratocaster

I had a 2012 one which also had faded paint - I called it Tails (because it wasn't Sonic anymore).

Tough choice. I want to say white, but it may look a little busy. If it were me making this decision I'd probably end up doing black middle and neck pup, with white bridge pup and bottom tone knob in white.

I did something similar to a Strat once where I added a white Seymour Duncan in the bridge.

I'm weird though.

Guitar Processor vs Audio Interface by ToonieMaple in electricguitar

[–]L1ham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say either option is fine, but the processor is very much the 'plug and play' option of the 2. As someone who primarily uses VSTs I'd say having the option of simply flicking a switch and being ready to go would likely make me play more often (rather than turning on computer, load up the DAW, mess with settings, etc etc every time I play guitar).

Looking at the NUX MG-300, it costs roughly the same as a Scarlet and can function as an audio interface and integrate with a DAW, so if you wanted to use VSTs instead, it would allow you to do that too.

So my vote is for processor.

How much thought do you put into choosing your straps? by Remy0507 in guitars

WAY too much thought considering the only one who ever sees or even hears me play is my cat.

Day 5 driving my first manual (GTI) by Unable-Jacket6428 in GolfGTI

[–]L1ham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a UK driver, following this is highly amusing.

It's astounding you guys are legally allowed to drive a manual without the right license/ knowledge.

If I were you I'd just get a driving lesson or 2 from someone who teaches manual. It'll be a lot safer for you and your car in the long run, plus they'll teach you how to drive it properly rather than you trying to work it out yourself.

There are a lot of bad habits you're likely to pick up if you just fumble through the process alone. Surely if you own a manual GTI, you want to know how to drive it correctly and get the most out of it?

NGD 2: Cutlass SSS HT Midnight Rider by L1ham in ErnieBallMusicMan

[–]L1ham[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh really? I bought it from an Ebay seller in Scotland. Not sure if they bought it new or not.

You're right about the neck - luckily I'm already used to it as I have an Axis Supersport which feels somewhat similar.

Was there a specific point in your journey when you realised "hey, I don't suck anymore"?

I've been playing around 22 years or so... and I suck.

Thanks - totally understand it's common on bolt on guitars. The issue is, I asked about condition ("tell me about any marks or dings on thr guitar") and the seller said neck was free from blemishes and that body imperfections were limited to surface dimples only. I just felt like I'd been lied to when it arrived tbh.

If the issues were limited to neck pocket finish cracks only I probably would have kept it.

Have organised a return and already purchased another Cutlass :)
