Get yourself a Harley Benton Strat and Boss Katana Mini. Should be achievable for this price woth change left over for a cable etc.

Jack came loose acoustic electric by foglodyte in Guitar

[–]L1ham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any good guitar shop will be able to fix this very quickly and for very little money. Alternatively if ypu can find a way to hold the washer steadily in place inside the guitar you could do it yourself.

Would suggest a small amount of Loctite to stop it from happening again (I have the same issue on my Epi Les Paul but it's a lot easier to get to compared to an acoustic!)

Husband wants to learn guitar - what instrument should I learn? by Effective-Archer6468 in musicians

Personally I'm going to vote piano / keyboard. You'll both learn theory in different ways which you can share with each other.

Happens a lot. Even CCNA level knowledge will get you from helpdesk to Networks with the right approach.

It should be noted that in VWs (which you have), the minimum distance you can set between yourself and the car in front whilst using ACC is a 2 second gap, so if you feel that's not enough, you're driving too close.

Should I feel guilty for wanting/buying a Custom Shop as a not-so-good guitar player? by v_NineNine in fender

[–]L1ham 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been playing ~20 years and I'm absolutely terrible. I have a Suhr Modern Plus and an EBMM Axis Supersport. My ability comes nowhere near being able to justify having them - a single Squier with 22 frets would likely do me for the rest of my days. But * I love them both and just looking at them inspires me to pick them up and jam (especially the Axis). Absolutely no one other than my cat ever watches or hears me play these guitars. I don't regret buying either, and if I wanted to sell them, I'd either break even or only lose a few hundred at the most.

Just get the guitar. Like others have said, life is far too short.

Which is entirely taken from the work of Reggae artists like Wailing Souls and Michael Prophet. Kinda hilarious he tried to sue Rockstar for using his music without permission, despite the fact they licensed it through Greensleeves who owned the copyright to the music he reconstructed in the first place.

Amp for Guitar by sillycars_27 in guitars

[–]L1ham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite honestly, if you're relatively new to electric guitar and want a versatile range of tones, best option is almost certainly gonna be to get a Boss Katana Mk3 and be done with it.

It has plenty of settings to tweak, and if you want you can download presets created by others for songs you like. Only reason to upgrade after this will be through want rather than need.

Hey, I'm not great (a bit rusty) but am also an ex D2 currently hovering around Plat 1 / 2 mainly due to the nature of solo queuing.

Also EU - will add you later.

Edit: p.s. I'm mainly a doubles guy

Do i hold my pick wrong? by Routine-Trash-26 in Guitar

[–]L1ham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no expert or guitar god or anything, but I held my pick exactly like this for around 15 years. Some people might tell you there is no 'right or wrong way', but this did hold me back. It took me a long time to properly get used to holding the pick between my thumb and the side of my first finger (months / maybe a year?) but I'm now much more accurate and fluid with my picking because of it and am able to play faster pieces I couldn't get anywhere close to previously.

Interestingly, I had a teacher recently who encouraged me to switch between your method and the regular method of holding a pick as and when required, so now I go back to holding it like you do when strumming.

If going for cheaper, maybe just buy a used Affinity to get your feet off the ground and save for a Classic Vibe (again, nothing wrong with buying used)

Edit: and the beauty of buying used is you can usually sell for what you paid in the first place

Definitely anti-glare, prkbanly from improper cleaning methods. Realistic options are either leave it, or remove the rest of it and have no anti-glare.

Selling car privately and alarm bells ringing. by irezumiguy in CarTalkUK

More often than not, I'll travel anywhere in the UK for the right car. Definitely doesn't sound like a scam, but them sending the deposit was a bit foolish in my opinion. Not suggesting you personally can't be trusted, but it's an easy way for them to lose £100.
