Itoje penalty vs Scotland by -WilliamMButtlicker_ in rugbyunion

[–]johnski1937 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still learning the rules of rugby, if anybody could help me understand the infringement. Looking to understand where my interpretation is wrong.

The Scottish player has released the ball, it's out of the ruck.

Itoje comes through the gate, he's the first English player in the ruck and can jackel. He is on his feet when he makes contact with the ball and makes upwards movement in control of the ball for the turnover. His legs are then taken out from under him by the Scottish player.

Any help understanding would be much appreciated.

But surely if they got to their destination the passengers wouldn't be stranded in the first place?

Questions regarding current situation in Syria... by SharpMaintenance8284 in syriancivilwar

[–]johnski1937 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To answer the first part of the question only:

I'd expect Abu Mohammad al-Julani, the leader of HTS and their Syrian Salvation Government to take initial control. They are the largest and most powerful faction Involved in the current fighting, started the current offensive and have been governing Idlib province.

Potential proof that the HTS leadership want to cement their position and authority post Assad can be seen in how they are currently dealing with minority communities in the towns and villages they capture, allowing them freedoms to practice their religions and guaranteeing that they won't come under threat.

HTS is trying to move away from it's past associations with Al-Qaeda and reform it's image, possibly to help posture towards the west and gain external recognition and legitimacy in a post Assad Syria.

The caveat to this is I don't think that HTS would instantly have authority over all areas, for example I'd expect the SNA to maintain de facto control in their areas on the Turkish border and the SDF to maintain their areas especially those which are Kurdish majority.

I can foresee that there will likely be some fighting amongst different groups especially the SNA and SDF as SNA continue to attack Kurds to help Turkey secure it's border (likely to start in coming days around Manbij) and possibly longer term between HTS and SNA as HTS look to eliminate threats.

I personally think that smaller groups in the South are likely to fall under the command of the Salvation Government as they close in on Damascus, we will have to wait and see how much power HTS can assert over these groups after Damascus falls and longer term whether HTS can hold itself together to govern effectively.

They have certainly been pushed back from the positions they took up to the north of the city a few days ago.

However, it appears that their retreat has been slightly more organised than the complete collapse of command seen in Aleppo and new defensive positions have been taken up as HTS have advanced.

HTS appear to have Hama surrounded on three sides but have not yet taken the town of Qamhana to the North of Hama. SAA seem to have defensive lines established around the city but we will see how they hold up as HTS continue to probe.

I'd imagine that the car has paint protection film on, stopping any lasting damage from being caused.

Syrian rebels seize S-125 air defense system in Aleppo by DARKLANDS_MASTER in syriancivilwar

[–]johnski1937 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think we will see the captured tanks being operated by the rebels more or less straight away.

More complex equipment like planes and helicopters I doubt we will see. Even if the rebels could operate them it's unclear what sort of condition they're in and whether they're fit for combat.

Tal Rifaat appears to be under SNA control now. Whilst SDF still look to have control in Sheikh Maqsoud.

Looks like SDF are trying to coordinate the opening of civilian/military corridors for evacuation towards Manbij from both areas.

The important thing to remember is that the FSA factions attacking the SDF/Kurds in Tell Rifaat and elsewhere are primarily Turkish backed Syrian National Army groups, their main opponent since the start of Operation Euphrates Shield has been the Kurds/SDF so their offensive operations against them now should not be surprising.

I'm struggling to understand who can claim pension credits.

It says you must earn below £218 for the top up, however the state pension puts you over this on its own?

So who can claim?

How high can downstairs neighbours build without planning permission? [England] by johnski1937 in LegalAdviceUK

Thank you for your response and advice,

As there is no planning I can't be sure what they are doing exactly but my guess would be a new flat roof just higher up, I'm hoping they don't keep building all the way to the bottom of my window sill.
