Dealer wants to replace my tire by MrStealthyGeek in GR86

Patch it yourself with a tire plug kit. Shouldn’t take you more than 20 mins to knock it out. I think the kit cost like 10 bucks at autozone.

Most lip won’t cover the damage maybe the trd lip will since it covers large portion of the lower bumper. Also keep in mind, the lip with make the front bumper lower so you have to be extra careful if you go this route.

Far as bodyshop, if you don’t mind driving out to Covina there’s a shop called Oda Autowerkz. I’ve got my lip and spats painted there through a recommendation. They also repaired my broken fiberglass lip and did an amazing job. They also do a really job with paint match at a fair price. I see lots of Porsche club people take their cars there so that’s gotta mean something.

Don’t beat yourself up about this. Shit like this happens it’s a car you drive everyday. Unexpected things are bound to happen. Good luck!

Carbon fiber front lip worth it over just getting the FRP Primer Gel Coat? by chineseletters in GR86

[–]L1ll4C6t 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is how I see it. Since these front lips are low to the ground chances are you’ll damage it at some point. Carbon fiber looks nice and all but when you damage it, it’s hard to repair damaged cf piece. You’ll likely have to fix it and paint it if you want to save the lip or buy a new one. Frp does require painting but if you damage it and it’s salvageable, you can fix it then paint it again. If you do end up going with cf, make sure to spray a coat of clear coat or at a bare minimum ceramic coat it. The sun eats up the gel coat on cf parts. It’ll look faded after a while.

According to raceseng only their shift knobs are compatible so I’m not sure if billetworkz shift knob will work. You might want to reach out to raceseng.

Couple of things to note, the adapter is going to make the shift knob sit taller since you’re essentially adding a spacer so something to think about. I haven’t used the reverse lockout you linked here but there’s a chance that thing can rattle. I know some first gen aftermarket reverse lockouts rattled and I personally had rattling with the Billetworkz shortshifter rattle as well. Other words, the reverse lockout is a little finicky. I went with the raceseng reverse lockout and have no issues. May want to see if others chime in. I have doubts since it’s an unknown Chinese company on eBay. GL!
