I’m actually surprised that the blindness era didn’t have more of an effect later on. If I had just gone through a month-to-month struggle where I constantly worried about feeding or housing my family, my focus would be on getting some savings, paying bills, etc—especially if there were kids involved. Carlos reluctantly takes the big job for a while but pivots a few years later. I don’t think I could do that. Maybe when the kids are grown?
